    Default Questions concerning KOJ

When playing KOJ i noticed that Baldwin IV isnt suffering from leprosy (i dont think i saw that in the traits...). I just thought it was weird since he suffered from leprosy since he was young (William of Tyre discovered the symptoms).
I just thought i should point this out since he outlived all my other govenors (its 1203 and hes 60...). Realistically he should have dropped dead in 1185.

Also could it be possible to make the crusades a historical event instead of a building? Sort of like Kingdoms. Richard and Philip show up around 1191. This isnt a big deal, Im just a history nerd

Also is there a position for govenors to be the Grand Master of the Templars or Hospitallars? Are there Grand Masters at all like Robert de Sable or Garnier de Nablus?

The crusades came because of major losses by the KoJ, if you have conquered Egypt and Richard still shows up to "save" you, it doesn't make much sense.

I think it would be cool to have recruitable generals for the KoJ to be Officers of one of the Orders....

    True....on the crusades part
Kingdoms had a grand master bodyguard but no actual character.
It was the strongest form of Templars that I believe you get just once every now and then. I think it was in on of the northern most cities you own. Near Tripoli. Just thought it would be cool to have a actual Grand Master character

Can someone please tell me how I ask for the popes aid?

I have the "cross-bulding" ...but wtf? what now?:hmmm:
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

Building gives you percentage chance to get aid. So it's not certain that if you build it, you going to get aid for sure.

Percentage depends of size of your kingdom att when you build it, and i believe some other stuff to.

I'm pretty sure you have to build the "Papal Aid" structure AFTER you lose an important city like Jerusalem, Jaffa, or Acre. Then it's guaranteed that you'll get crusader aid.

I'll include a leprosy trait for 1.1 that reduces his fertility, and hitpoints. I don't know if I can shorten his lifespan though... :hmmm:

I could simply include a randomized script that picks a random date to kill him off and pop up a message "your king has died of leprosy".

that sounds interesting. Could it be possible to have the events concerning that conflicts between Baldwin IV and Guy. Maybe these could be events. The Templars attacking caravans etc.

"In the summer of 1180, Baldwin IV married Sibylla to Guy of Lusignan, brother of the constable Amalric of Lusignan. Earlier historians claimed that Sibylla's second marriage was entirely due to the influence of the King's mother; however, Hamilton argues that this is to reflect uncritically the personal grievances of William of Tyre and of the Ibelins. A plan to marry Sibylla to Hugh III of Burgundy had broken down; Raymond of Tripoli seems to have been attempting to marry her to Baldwin of Ibelin to bolster his power-base. A foreign match was essential to the kingdom, bringing the possibility of external aid. With the new French king Philip II a minor, Guy's status as a vassal of the King's cousin Henry II of England - who owed the Pope a penitential pilgrimage - was useful in this respect. Baldwin also betrothed his 8-year-old half-sister Isabella to Humphrey IV of Toron, repaying a debt of honour to Humphrey's grandfather, who had given his life for him at Banias, and removing Isabella from the control of her mother and the Ibelin faction. (Her betrothed was Raynald of Chatillon's stepson.)
Guy had previously allied himself with Raynald, who was by now taking advantage of his position at Kerak to harass the trading caravans travelling between Egypt and Damascus. After Saladin retaliated for these attacks in 1182, Baldwin, now blind and unable to walk, appointed Guy regent of the kingdom.
Nevertheless, in 1183, Baldwin had become offended by Guy's actions as regent. Guy attended the wedding festivities for Isabella (now about 11) and Humphrey, held in Kerak; however, the festivities were interrupted by Saladin, who besieged the fortress with the wedding guests inside. Baldwin marshalled what strength he had and lifted the siege, but Guy refused to fight Saladin and Saladin's troops simply went home. Baldwin could not tolerate this and deposed Guy as regent. In disgrace, Guy retired to Ascalon, taking his wife the princess Sibylla with him."

Or set his age to 70 or so, and cover the historical inaccuracy by making the text of the Leprosy trait mention something about "being aged beyond his years."

I heard somewhere that baldwin wasn't affected by leprosy and died from another random virus he cought.

*EDIT* don't quote me on that tho, I'm not sure.

« There is no virtue in compulsory government charity, and there is no virtue in advocating it.

A politician who portrays himself as 'caring' and 'sensitive' because he wants to expand the government's charitable programs is merely saying that he's willing to try to do good with other people's money. Well, who isn't?

And a voter who takes pride in supporting such programs is telling us that he'll do good with his own money - if a gun is held to his head.» - P. J. O'Rourke
