    Default Playing as the Mongols in BC

    In vanilla M2TW, you could play as the Mongols without mods by following these easy instructions:
    http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=75575

    The game would autopilot the entire game up to the date they arrive, as if the AI has been playing the whole time. IIRC cities updated along with armies, so the AI was as advanced as it usually is by the Mongol invasion.

    Does this method also work with BC? Just a thought... it might be fun sending the shah running to Palestine and then sacking Baghdad as the Mongols...

    Wow, that is actually quite easy and.. wonderful. It should work just fine, and that gives me awsome ideas of making emergent factions playable too...

    In fact I think I could give it a shot right now...

    OK I gave it a shot and though I didn't have the time to wait for all the turns till mongols I think it worked..

    Here's what you do:

    1) Go into bc.cfg and delete the section under and including [hotseat].

    2) Paste in this instead and save the .cfg file.

    [multiplayer]
    playable = 1
    hotseat_turns = 1
    hotseat_scroll = 0

    [hotseat]
    turns = 1
    scroll = 0
    autoresolve_battles = 0
    disable_console = 0
    disable_papal_elections = 1
    save_prefs = 1
    update_ai_camera = 0
    validate_diplomacy = 1

    3) Load up BC and pick any faction, remember now that hotseat is enabled you need to deselect the factions on the selection screen. Load the campaign.

    4) Lets say you picked egypt. Hit "`" and type in "control mongols".
    5) Then type in "control egypt".
    6) The turns process should begin now and keep going until mongols emerge and give you control of them.

    Its fantastic that this works because it means in BC 2.0 we can make new emerging factions playable.

    So in later versions of BC, you will be able to play as an emergent faction, and the campaign will run this process automatically and start you at the date they emerge? If so,

    What emergent factions might you include?

    edit- I will test this soon, and post pics if it works.

    I will probably make certain factions playable "via" initial start factions. So for example if I add the new "Sultanate of Delhi" it would be playable via the Ghorid Sultanate. Basically in 1206 a rebellion by this new faction would emerge and you'd be given a question "Do you wish to join the Delhi Sultanate" and if you click yes the script would automatically transport you to the new Delhi faction.

    Same thing could work for Ayyubids to Mamluks, Turks to Ottomans, etc.

    Thats only possible with the kingdoms .exe I think, like lithuania is asked to become catholic in teutonic campaign.
    You can make the conditions to become delhi sultanate to capture delhi and northern india.

    What about Delhi Sultanate if for instance I start game as Chauhans and bash the Ghorids ? And is it possible for the AI to change their standings? I heard that Kalmar Union thing in Kingdoms worked for players, but never for the AI(so Denmark AI could never from Union)

    I am not sure of this, but didn't the Seljuk empire splinter into smaller, more regional factions? It would be cool to control one of these smaller states.

    Nope. It just 'transports' you to the totally different emerging faction.

    I told you about this a while back Mirage

    But on topic, I think there are problems with save games doing this. When I tried it in vanilla and saved as the Mongols, my save game didn't work. If you swap back to a real faction before saving it might work though.
