I was... it ended after what? 70 minutes? And the monster looked like a turtle with testicles on its head. Even the little monsters it spawned were such wimps you could kill them with anything you found handy. Not to mention the motion sickness and the really bad ending.

But I guess there is a sequel coming that should explain more. But if anyone liked this movie, please tell me why.

My parents went to see it, they said at the end they've never been so happy to see someone die.

This movie looked...weird. The camera was all messed up, almost like a home video with the cameraman having epilepsy while holding the recorder.

The movie is so gay. I fell asleep here and there roughly 30 minutes throughout the movie. Moreover, it so ****ing annoying to hear the guy keeps saying, "OH MY GOD!" countless times.

    Ok.. Let's see...

A monster movie (instead of the hugely boring, annoying and unintentionally hilarious 'Godzilla'), with a creature of mysterious origins and a group of people lost in the middle of mayhem, filmed from a new and exciting perspective..

And it leads to motion sickness, sleepiness and aggression? I've seen Die Hard 4 in the cinema. Trust me, I'd trade Cloverfield for that crap any day..

I thought it was interesting, at times pretty scary and claustrophobic and most of all 'edge of your seat action and mystery'. As far as I'm concerned it ranks among the best 90 minutes I spent in a theatre..

The little creatures were terrifying balls of tentacles, claws and jaws, the large creature was mysterious and ominiously present throughout the movie and, above all, it was unlike anything we've seen so far. I, for one, don't agree with what's been said here..

And I am in agreement with you.

While I'm no fan of excessive use of hand cameras (I Am Legend?! There was no call for that!), it makes perfect sense for this film, at least, insofar as to what the movie makers were going for. Remember: you weren't just watching a movie; rather you were watching a movie about a video recording of first-hand witnesses to this monster or more accurately, solely for the sake of discovering a clue about where this monster came from (truly brilliant, that).

It seems to me that people are simply taking a stance against this movie solely for the manner in which it was filmed, a sort of bandwagon effect if you will in regards to the propensity for movie-goers to hate the hand-held camera effect.

Having said that, I will admit to being constantly frustrated at being restricted to seeing solely what our inept, amateur cameraman managed to film while scrambling through the streets and subway. I simply prefer the panoramic and detached views of traditional filming. Nevertheless, it was a good frustration as it was intended to be frustrating.

Funny, I just went to this forum to open a thread called "Was Cloverfield overrated or what?"

Worst Godzilla-rip-off ever (when they went in the subways, I could hit Abrams in the face. A wink is one thing, "same thing" is another).

I can't believe I payed 5,5 euros for that. Sure, there were scary moments, but if you want scary, then go watch "I am Legend". There is one really good horror scene in there (the one in the building), while I never felt any emotions while watching "Cloverfield", only an uncontrollable urge to start laughing

    QFT!!

It was a new and exciting way of filming a monster movie imo. Once you get it in your head that you are more or less watching this movie to look for evidence where this monster came from you get a whole new perspective of it. There are a couple scenes where if you blink you'll miss clues about the monster. I love the fact that you don't really find anything out from all that you see, you begin the movie with a mysterious aura surrounding what is happening and you leave wondering if the monster even really died.

Hahaha.. The year isn't even over yet! It has just begun.. I'm sure there'll be a couple of films premiering that shouldn't have even seen the light of day before the year is over .. Cloverfield is a decent film; it's not great, but it certainly is not as horrible as some people make it out to be..

What I didn't like is that one annoying brat that kept prattling about senseless crap in the beginning of the movie. When the Statue of Liberty smashed into her cab someone sitting behind me cried out "OH GOD YES" and I heartily agreed.

I guess the movie takes much 'self-immersion' in order for the watcher to enjoy it. Unfortunately I didnt have the energy to do that considering I was in a 6-movies-marathon-watching. LOL
