    Unlike Total War Eras, Eras Total Conquest is a Kingdoms mod.


    Eras

    970

    1) Nine new factions; Britions, Bulgaria, Burgundy, Croatia, Cuman, Ireland, Norway, Serbia, and Sweden.
    2) New events prevent the recruitment of all but the most basic units.
    3) Yes, the HRE is meant to be that big.

    1080

    1) Seven new factions; Britons, Croatia, Cuman, Ireland, Norway, Serbia, and Sweden.
    2) Most faction start out with more settlements.
    3) Yes, the HRE is meant to be that big.

    1200

    1) Eleven new factions; Aragon, Bulgaria, the Crusader States, Cuman, Ireland, Khwarezmian, Norway, Novgorod, Serbia, and Sweden, Wales.
    2) Slightly larger starting armies and some settlements are more developed.
    3) Fight against the Mongols.

    1300

    1) Ten new factions; Aragon, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Genoa, Lithunania, Norway, Novgorod, Serbia, Sweden, and the Teutonic Order. The Mongols are also playable.
    2) Much larger starting armies and most settlements have been improved.
    3) Face the Bubonic Plague, Timurids, and the rise of gunpowder weapons.

    1400

    1) Seven new factions; Aragon, Cyprus, Genoa, Lithunania, Novgorod, Serbia, and the Teutonic Order. The Mongols, Timurids, and Milan are also playable.
    2) Larger starting armies, though the plague has depopulated most cities.
    3) Almost every weapon and unit is available (all units become available once America is discovered).

    1500

    1) Most of the smaller factions have been absorbed by larger factions.
    2) Larger starting armies, mostly gunpowder units and pikemen.
    3) All weapons and units are available and most can be recruited.
    4) Some new events will occur, though they have no impact on the game.

    Conquest vs Achievement

    One of the main features of this mod is that the player can choose whether their win conditions will be based on Conquest or Achievment. A Conquest campaigns is won if the player takes a set number of settlements from anywhere on the map, while an Achievement campaign requires the player to defeat certain factions but does not require the player's faction to possess more than one settlement. To access this feature on the campaign screen you need to click where the 'Long / Short' campaign button was.

    Total War Eras Installation Guide

    0) Download this mod (eras 2.3 or eras lite 2.3.7z) and unpack it using 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/).

    1) Go to the Medieval II Total War directory (default is C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War).

    2) Copy and paste the total_war_eras.bat, eras.cfg, and 'eras' folder into the Medieval II Total War directory (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War'). These files form most of the mod.

    3) Copy and paste the 'data' folder in the 'eras lite' folder into the Medieval II Total War directory, you will be asked if you wish to overwrite the vanilla 'data' folder, click yes. This will add the shared.sd and strategy.sd into the 'Medieval II Total War\data\ui' folder. If these files are not put in the correct folder the mod will not display correctly. However if other mods need their own shared.sd and strategy.sd these files may prevent them working. If you other mods do not display correctly try deleting these files (there's a spare copy of them in the 'Medieval II Total War\eras\data\ui' folder).

    4) To play this mod double click on the 'total_war_eras.bat' file and select the campaign you want to play (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6) by pressing the corrisponding number on the keyboard (don't click on the number and hit the 'enter' key).

    If you are using Vista you need to be logged in as the Administrator, or you will not be able to copy these files and will recieve an access denied error.

    5) To make the 'total_war_eras.bat' file into a destop shortcut right click on it, select 'Send To' on the pop-up menu, then select 'Desktop (create shortcut)'.

    How to Play the 2.2 plus Versions

    0) Download the mod
    1) Start up this mod by double click on the 'total_war_eras.bat'.
    2) Type the number of the campaign you want to play on the pop-up menu and hit enter (this copies the relevent files). If the menu closes after copying the files but the mod doesn't start. Then double click on the 'total_war_eras.bat' again and type '0' (zero) then hit enter.
    3) Click on 'Single Player' option in the start menu.
    4) Click on 'Imperial Campaign' on the next menu (this mod will now automatically bring up the correct campaign).
    5) Select a faction and start this mod.

    Custom Battles

    Due to my AoR system Custom battles do not work if the "Period" is set to "All". Setting it to "Early", "High", or "Late" will fix this problem.

    Additional Files

    If the sound does not work copy the whole vanilla 'data/sound' folder to the 'eras/data' folder.

    Also I'd like to thank:
    dave scarface for making a descr_events.txt file that works with the Big Map mod,
    repman for his Deus Lo Vult script that charges the player for entering enemy territory,
    SicilianVespers for all his work on the launch menu,
    tomwushu for adding 22 provinces to the campaign map and beta testing this mod.

    Known issues

    I am aware of the following problems and I am working on a way to fix them.

    1) If you click on several factions, rather than just choosing one and starting the game, the mod will crash (to counter this choose the faction you want to play first, then start the game).

    2) Since each campaign requires different files loading a save file from one campaign when this mod is set to another campaign's settings may cause the mod to crash. For example if the mod is set to the 970 settings and you try to load a save file from the 1500 campaign the mod may crash.

    How to report crashes

    If the mod crashes I need the following information:

    1) If the mod crashes after loading for a battle (but before the battle starts) then one of the units is missing a texture. To solve this problem I need to know what units you and your opponent were using (including armour upgrades), and which factions you and the computer were using.

    2) If the mod crashes on the strat map after you do something I need to know what you did and in which campaign.

    3) If the mod unexpectedly crashed on the strat map after you end your turn but before your next turn starts then the computer is doing something that is causing the mod to crash. I need to know what the computer did and in which campaign.

    2.4 Bug fixes
    Do not use any of these files in any other version of this mod. They are for the 2.4 version only.

    No AI Garrisoning

    The AI recruiting a garrison when under siege is technically not a bug but some people dislike it. To remove this feature and slightly speed up the end of turn time download the 'no garrisons.rar', unpack it, and put the contents of the 'no garrisons' folder into the 'eras/data folder' (overwrite the exisiting files).

    Warning: you will need to recopy the campaign files for this bug fix to take effect. It will only apply to save games started after this bug fix has been applied.

    Croatian / Lithuanian Admiral bug

    When Croatia or Lithuania try to recruit a ship the mod crashes. This occurs because they do not have an admiral strat model.

    To fix this bug download the 'Admiral.rar', unpack it, and put the contents of the 'admiral' folder into the 'eras/data' folder (overwrite the exisiting files). Then recopy all the files, so the changes will take effect (on the campaign selection menu select the campaign you want to play).

    Attacking Khwarezmian bug

    In the 1200 campaign it you attacked the Khwarezmian faction or they attacked you them mod would crash, this was due to an error in the expanded.txt.

    To fix this bug download the 'Eras Patch 2.4a.rar', unpack it, and put the contents of the 'eras patch/data' folder into the 'eras/data' folder (overwrite the exisiting files). Then recopy all the files, so the changes will take effect (on the campaign selection menu select the campaign you want to play).

    Invisible units

    This patch is for the non-lite version only.

    On the battlefield some units, such as Germanic Sergeant Spearmen, are invisible. This is caused by this unit not being listed in the battle_models.modeldb file.

    To fix this bug download the 'battle_models non-lite.rar', unpack it and put the file in the 'eras\data\unit_models' folder.

    Lithuanian conversion crash

    When a settlement containing a pagan shirine is converted from a city to a castle or vice verse the mod crashes. This is due to an error in the building tree.

    To fix this bug download the 'Eras Patch 2.4a.rar', unpack it, and put the contents of the 'eras patch/data' folder into the 'eras/data folder' (overwrite the exisiting files). Then recopy all the files, so the changes will take effect (on the campaign selection menu select the campaign you want to play).

    1200 New faction leader crash

    The mod crashes in the 1200 campaign when your Faction Leader dies. This caused by an error in the 'data/text/export_vnvs.txt' file.

    To fix this bug download the 'Eras Patch 2.4a.rar', unpack it, and put the contents of the 'eras patch/data' folder into the 'eras/data folder' (overwrite the exisiting files).

    970, 1080, 1200 crash

    This error is caused by an error in the 'export_descr_unit_early.txt' file and prevents the player starting the 970, 1080, and 1200 campaigns.

    To fix this bug download the 'export_descr_unit_early.rar'. This contains two files, the 'export_descr_unit_early.txt' (for the non-lite campaign) and 'LITE export_descr_unit_early.txt' (for the lite campaign). The 'export_descr_unit_early.txt' needs to go in the 'eras\data' folder, while the 'LITE export_descr_unit_early.txt' needs to be renamed 'export_descr_unit_early.txt', then put in the 'eras\data' folder.

    After adding these files, reselect the campaign you want to play.

    Sudanese Gunners crash

    This crash occurs when you try to start the mod. The error log says that it can't find the "soldier battle model for unit type 'Sudanese_Gunners'".

    To fix this bug download the 'battle_models.rar', unpack it, and put the 'battle_models.modeldb' in the 'eras\data\unit_models' folder (default location 'C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\eras\data\unit_models').

    Your mods don't work when you play with the Turks. It keeps crashing after a few turns.

    Is there any trigger that causes the Turks to crash; such as always on turn 5, when you attack another faction, when you declare a jihad; or does it seem to crash randomly?

    Update: I've been searching for various mods to improve the appearence and game play of this mod, and have gotten permission to use a lot of them. I plan to integrate these mods into my Eras mod and release the new version as soon as I can.

    I've also added some new buildings as well.

    Starting this mod is now slight different. From the Sicilian Vespers mod I've learned how to change the names of factions during a campaign, so when you click on the 'total_war_eras.bat' file to start this mod you will be prompted to choose which campaign you want to play. This will affect the names of the factions but will not affect the game in any other way (so if you choose the wrong option your save files should not be damaged).

    For examples if you wanted to player the 1200 campaign you'd press the '2' key on the keyboard, then press the 'enter' key.

    How do i uninstall it? I tried uninstalling the game and re-installing it, but the eras mod was still there.

    I have a problem.. when I open the .bat file then type the number(choose era) appear “impossible found the file: expanded_c.txt” and “impossible found the file: expanded_c.txt.strings.bin”...and after run the mod but I can play only the 1080 map....???????? help!

    Attached to this post is a zip file containing the 'expanded_c.txt' and 'expanded_c.txt.strings.bin' files. Try replacing the ones in your the eras\data\text folder (in the M2TW directory) with these. Let me know if this does not fix the problem.

    This mod looks very interesting. I was happy to see it uses Real Combat FYI RC 1.5 system is out, can send you details if you are interested.

    I get so many CTDs when playing this. I always wanted to start a campaign during the 1500s but I get CTDs in both custom battles and campaign battles.
