realized I ranted a bit, so read if you want or just give me your ideas, I'm thinking Moors+Spain since I'm already in the area.
I'm playing as Milan on H/H and I gotta say they're probably my favorite faction now. But the game has taken a sudden twist, almost every faction finally decided to take sides and have allied up like crazy.
Its Pretty much Milan, HRE, Portugal, Papal states on side 1, and the rest of the worl on side 2 with poor poland stuck in the middle all by themselves. They've grown pretty nicely too though so I'm sure they'll tough it out, and the HRE are they're only real threat and they've been rather passive the whole game, think they've taken one territory up north and that's it. but they've got two 3/4 stacks near poland.
I wiped out venice first thing, all except ikkalion or whatever that island is near rhodes. And just recently killed they're cardinal making it 7 cardinals for me and 5 for the rest of the world, not to include my pope. I thank byzantine for that, letting me religiously wreck they're citties.
I'm Sicily back stabbed me for the last time, and I'm 2 turns away from taking they're last city. The moors who have been allies and enemies of and on with Sicily took it too far and landed troops right next to Genoa, something I never thought the AI would do when I own Ajeccio and Cagliari. So I pretty much pushed them out of Africa except for the one region right below Corduba. The merchants I've got down there have got me so rich that I've been spamming Assassins.
The Papal States have been allies with Byzantine even though, the HRE and I havn't been. So I've been staying out of direct war with them and just sending my priest there to train, I'm trying an experiment with Thellosicana(I butchered the name I know) and trying to get them to revolt. If I pull it off I'll try it one by one with them or Hungary.
I've gotten there religion to 84/16, but I can't seem to get it to drop lower, I've got 7 cardinals all 7+ piety and 1 priest that has 5 piety sitting outside the city. I'm tempted to train more for the effort, but since I've been taking Moor cities I've been training priest in africa instead. But I've got my assassin, thay're travling all the way from Zagreb so it take ~4 turns to reach the area. but I've got 3 assassins that have enough skill 3-5, that I leave south to kill the constant byzantine priest, that keep comming. I swear the computer can train to agents per city. The rest keep trying to sabatauge the buildings within the city. I've also got 3 spys in the city cause I read somewhere that more spy can help cause a city to revolt.
Shortly after gaining my 7th cardinal the pope up and dies, I ofcourse elect myself with the majority of the votes. A full stack of Spain troops arrives on Algiers shore and france is obviously moving troops towards me, plus I keep discoverying they're agents.
So I'm faced with the decision, continue to wiped out the Moors and move into Spain territory, or try to relocate my troops and push into France. I'm racking in enough money to support 3-5 full stacks of the best I can get, and still make enough to keep building up my cities, so I'd be ok leaving a Stack or two left alone along the borders of the other faction while I deal with the other.
