    War of Kings



    Ladies and gentlemen, what lays before you is a mod compilation, that while in some ways is complex, is in other ways simplistic in its achievement of change, and improvement. This is a mod that is not ment as a total overhaul, and is not geared towards the history-obsessed, or people who are looking for an entire new game play. This is a mod that is geared towards people who want a fresh look, a fesh feel, but the same general concept that is Medieval II:Total War.

    For the most part, this is a mod that takes some of the best and most popular mini mods available and puts them all into one package, with some extra changes and tweeks made by myself. Many of these changes are astetic in nature, while others are geared towards gameplay, and some still towards the actual mechanics of the game. I will now present to you the main changes that you will find in War of Kings. In some ways, it is ment as a very Lite version of DLV. While DLV is a great mod, I was continuely by the long end turn times. While this mod carries over alot of the ideas of DLV (crowns, titles, etc) it doesn't have the mass amount of scripting that slows the game down at the end of every turn. This game runs just as fast and smoothly as Vanilla. Part of this is because it uses the Vanilla map, but as soon as I can find someone to help me with a new map, that will change. However, even if using a bigger map, there should be no significant slow down on this mod what so ever.

    Looks

    Burrek's Eunique Europeans Early and Late, as well as Knights and Knaves horse barding are included in this mod.

    The early generals/captains models are also included so that your not looking at full plated men in 1080.

    Horse Archer's (Davy Jones) Cannon and Dust mod is also included. However, I do not include the extra shot sounds because they are large files.

    I have also made some small changes to the general UI of the game and use the strat map interface from Stainless Steel.

    I have also raised the mass of horses slightly to better show their shock value.


    Gameplay
    The turns per year is still the same (2 turns=1 year) but the mod is set up so that then turns show as turns, and above the map shows the year and season.

    The Characters Name Project included for more accurate family member names.


    On the map Ultimate AI 1.6 for its improvements over the origonal AI of the game.

    New Buildings:
    -Highways: available at Large City level, in cities and castles. All roads create a tradeable goods bonus as well, so they are more important to build and keep clear now

    -Education Buildings: there are two trees of buildings, each with 3 tiers. One tree for Castles, and one for Cities. The castle education buildings will educate generals in the ways of warfare, and the city education buildings will educate governors on how to run a settlement proporly. However, there is a limit, a general/governor will only have 12 turns to get as much education as he can.

    Again there are three levels of each a College, a University, and a Large University.
    -College: allows training up to a Bachelors Degree (takes 4 turns)
    -University: allows training up to a Masters Degree (takes 2 turns, but the student must already have a Bachelors)
    -Large University: allows completion of their Doctorate (takes 2 turns, but the student must already have a Masters)
    These buildings will also give more happiness to the settlement.

    As we all know during that time, because of the rampant use of hormones in meat, children matured faster. The Coming of Age has been lowered to 14 years. This allows for better tracking of bloodlines and makes it much easier for the player to keep the crown in the family line.

    Speaking of crowns.....we have them! Crowns for Catholic and Orthodox factions. This was inspired by Deus lo Vult. The triggers work in general the same ways, but with different ancillary pics for the catholic crowns. When your faction leader ends his turn in the ORIGONAL capital he will be crowned King/Emperor/Duke et al. Also, if say the English whipe out the Scotish, then the English King can also be the King of Scots. Catholics can take Catholic crowns, and Russia can take Catholic crowns as well. The Byzantines are the only faction that can hold the crown of the former Eastern Empire.


    FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: BYZANTIUM, DENMARK, ENGLAND, FRANCE, HRE, HUNGARY, POLAND, PORTUGAL, RUSSIA, SCOTLAND, AND SPAIN. Because Milan and Venice were not kingdoms at all, I am using banners for their leaders.


    Traits and Ancillaires
    Blood, Broads, and Bastards is used in this mod. This means that the bloodlines are traced, all the regions have titles, and there is also the chance of catching a disease. I have also made changes to this trait files for the education traits mentioned above.
    I will be creating a basis for tracking career progress through battles and governing. Winning numerous battles will give more bonuses to hardiness, as well as authority. As a governor, allowing riots and revolts will lead to lasting negative civil traits. Who wants a governor who pisses off his populous so much?


    New Units

    The dismounted mailed knight unit created by LC along with UI from myself. The unit is a core building unit starting at wooden castle level in very limited quantities. As the castle upgrades they become more plentiful, and there is also an extra one available from the Drill Square and higher.

    Also the Dismounted Knights Orders mod is included.
    -Dismounted Knights of Santiago
    -Dismounted Knights Templar
    -Dismounted Hospitaller Knights
    -Dismounted Teutonic Knights
    Plus General's Bodyguards recruitable from Baron's Stables and above.


    Since this is a WIP i would love any feedback that anyone has on this mod. possible changes, interest, anything like that.

    i am very close to completion. i still have some bugs with the education buildings, but that is about it. depending on how soon i can get that sorted out, there should be a release within a month.

    thanx paradamed. everything is getting close to opperational. its taken me along time to compile everything and create the codes, but its so nice to see everything comming together.

    what i mainly need now is a bigger map and then a place to host it, after that this will be good to go!

    if i stay with the vanilla map, i think i'll just keep it how it is. if i go with a bigger map then ill be adding some in.
