They do? I stopped using auto manage when I realised the only one the people like was Growth, the rest just made the people really unhappy.

Yeah, quick population growth is more important than a few thousands from taxes. I run my settlements on low until they hit stone level, than normal until they are 30k, after that i tax as much as i can to keep population at some stable level.

This all provided i'm already big and wealthy and prefer to defend what i got instead of blitzing. First 50 turns are usually "every coin counts". :-)

^^^^ watchout for plague, it makes you cry when enemy's 'good' spy visits the plagued city and goes to visit several other towns and castles.
On your PC, the units seem to perform quite poorly. I think there might be something nearby the PC that is causing this problem for you. You may need a mirror to find out what it is.

that is why you get assassins and kill them before they arrive or just use that tactic on the enemy
"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...
