I know of a mod that dose this kind of thing, era baced recrutment. It is called Real Recrutment. It is a minie mod for Stainless Steel. Might be worth checking out. I can't remember the name of the guy that made the mod but I think he also did the Real Combat mod.

It was also done in TLR, which is why I wanted to know if it would or even could be introduced to this.

You mean like Lusted's Lands to Conquer Gold Edition?
With the choice between Early Middle and Late Period?

Not the choice of which era to play.

When plate armor was introduced, a new unit was available to recruit because it used plate armor. Same goes with Chain mail. An event would pop up and say chain mail was invented in so and so year, so when you go into your barracks, you see a new unit that you could recruit (if the barrack lvl is advanced enough).

That is what era-based unit recruitment system means.

Maybe I should have explained that earlier. oops.

I would also like to see this feature added, but would also like to note that TLR did something to prevent it from being too scripted/predictable: In each era there was a "window" of time for the next era to begin, with a random percent chance of it happening every turn...so you knew in general when, say, heavy mail would be invented, but you couldn't exactly plan it out ahead of time.

This would be a nice a feature for sure- Nothing like besieging a city and having the garrison script give the AI several units of plate armored swordsmen in 1200AD or so, especially when using the unit mod I put together that creates a massive difference between regular, professional and elite units vs Militia, when most of my own armies are bulked up with militia spearmen who dont' stand a chance I usually haven't even built chainmail producing blacksmiths yet by then...

I'm not a fun of an era system. Maybe something different...theplayer needs to collect certain prestige (research points ) to go for the next settlement level ?

    BareBonesWars 8.1 for RTW 1.5
Integration Mod which combines unique strategic challenges due to a 4 Season scripted campaign from 280 BC - 180 AD on several big/small maps and with an ruthless AI on the battlefield.
Deus lo Vult DLV 6.2 for MTW II Kingdoms
Norway+Ireland+Flanders+Kiev+Lithuania+Teutonic_Order+Armenia+Crusader+Georgia,1y2t script, army field costs, Ultimate AI 1.6, big map, military career, economic system, age simulation, heraldic system, new factions, garrison script, Crowns + Swords, Trait bugfixer, religion dependent recruiting, ancillary enhancements, darth battle mechanics

eh Reb, you could even have different types of research points. For example, sending your diplomat off and getting some points there for distance traveled, other points for setting up a merchant on an Iron resource, or even assigning missions that would get you even more research points for certain tasks. That would be cool. Rep, do you think that is possible?
