I did it!!

So.. I got the call that my journey was postponed.. I'm in the navy and was goin to sail out on monday, but it's been cancelled for a week.. Turns out that there was rust in our drinkingwater tanks.. Too bad..

A while back I posted a request because I needed help to get my new norse swordsmen.. Don't know if you guys remembered but Echad helped me out here, the friendly chap.. Still grateful to ya mate!

It didn't work out, looked like you needed to mess around with mesh files, something even Echad couldn't do and I did not have the resources nor the skill to learn it.. So I basicly gave up.

But then something struck me.. Turned out the lithuanians have a unit called the Dismounted Druzhina.. They have the exact same skeleton the Viking mercenaries use.. Unly the druzhina have swords!

So I created a whole new unit, whithout texture editing or mesh editing.. Just through text files.. All was done in battle_models.db
I am a total noob when it comes to modding, but I think I really did something good here.. I used the druzhina skeleton and the viking mercs' skin to make my brand new Norse Swordsmen.. And here they are:

He wanted to change it for himself! =) I think I will release Fix Pack 2.00 soon, so you might grab it... When will you sail? =\ It is gonne feature a total relook of the EDB file, with updating unit stats as per Point Blank's Real COmbar 1.4 and AI rectuit priority among other things... Also a lot of new icons.

BTW, you may donwload this as long as you still got internet access.

This is kinda cool.. Now I can do tons of stuff with the model.db file.. Like adding musketeers to denmark.. Using spanish musketeer skeletons and danish arquebusiers.. Now I got real danish musketeers! It's awesome.. Sounds kinda odd.. But I found all this stuff out thanks to you Echad. You pointed out the difference between Mesh files and texture files and what they really do.. Sounds silly but I didn't know all this cuz I'm quite a noob when it comes to modding, but figuring stuff out is cool!

I sail out next tuesday so I got some time to figure it all out, I used the info cards of the viking mercs for my norse swordsmen, only difference is they have axes on the info cards, but I can live with that!

Hmm there's not much to share.. Everyone has the files they need.. You just have to edit them..

I have attached a .txt file which contains what you need. Open your battle_model.db file located in your stainless_steel/data/unit_models folder. Then use search to find the norse swordsmen, then copy the lines in the attached .txt file over them, save and voila! Should work like a charm if you did it right!
