why are the writers on strike?

I have been hearing about this for a some time already but why?

They want percentage of the income from webisodes and the movies/tv series sold from online stores, currently they get nil profit from these sales.

Fair reason I would say but I am waiting sooo bad for the next seasons of tv series.. its eating me alive!

But I don't mind, we Dutch already get our shows 1 year late so we won't have any problems.
We'll just get them around the same time as you guys...

I found one of those signs that the strikers carry around on Ebay, I had to have it.

They hardly get anything from dvd sales and now they don't get payed for people who pay to downlad episodes I say all power to them.

I'm tempted to sell my house to pay the 24 writers to get the season underway...

Guess what. They have the right to strike seeing as they don't get a proper percent of their success. If it gets to the point that they're asking for more than they deserve then those who want less but are also talented will take their place. And you may say they get along fine. But not as fine as they deserve. They have just as much right to that money as you do to your leisure.

And lastly. What's wrong with being greedy?

My comment was directed to both feuding parties.

At least the Daily Show, and the Colbert Report, and Bill Maher are on. But I'm worried about Scrubs...

Greed is the force that powers our society. anyway, It's true, the writers dont get what they deserve.

Eradicate them and find new writers.

The Writer's Guild as been disbanded.
