Hi! I have 2 questions:
1. Is it the Carrack that lets you go to the Americas?
2. Does Denmark Receive the Carrack thus enabling them to go to the Americas?
Thank you for your help!![]()

A wise man once said that war never changed. That man had never seen an elephant with a cannon strapped to its back. - Jerusalem/Daduzi
Yes, they get carrack so they can get to americas. Only the mongols and timurids cant get to america. Other ships you can sail to america with are Grande Carracks and Baghlaghs. I think Caravels too but i have never reached world is round event, damn me :I
Oh I thought no Muslim faction could reach the Americas?
Thanks a lot for your help mate!+rep

Yep, Caravels can also sail to the Americas. Only Spain and Portugal get them, they are basically cheaper and weaker versions of the Carrack (stat-wise that is).
To clarify on Ataegina:
Change the ship attribute of the ship you want to make ocean-going "heavy warship" instead of "light warship" in export_descr_units.txt.

Hmm, i think with all logic caravels should be also faster than the other sea-crossing ships.
Denmark really should be able to sail to the Americas right from turn 1, given that they actually did go there a couple of hundred years before the game begins. It's not like they'd be able to conquer America with militia.
but it wouldnt be fair though
It wouldn't be fair for Denmark to have their armies turned into piles of skulls by the millions of Aztecs?
But it would be a huge advantage for them to send merchants up there, without competition from other merchants and surrounded by high-value resources.
Well heres the thing, the AI almost NEVER goes, and I don't think the AI, no matter how much you do to it will ever be smart enough to just send a boatfull of merchants to take over the resources.
If your playing denmark, just don't take advantage of it, problem solved :-P
Also, if ye ask me all the AI factions could use more gold, maybe they'd put up a better fight![]()
Wait, regular boats cant sail across to the Amercas?

I have a question. If I summon carracks or caravels (by a cheat, lol) before the "world is round" event, can they sail to America? Please don't think I am a dirty cheater, just i never manage to get to 15th century, I hardly ever get to timurids, lol. It's because I can't play as one faction for too long, i'm getting bored.
If you summon carracks/caravels you can go to the Americas earlier, I think it forces the "world is round" event when you find it. Be aware that you can only summon ships into existing navies.
Don't blaim you for not reaching the 15th century, I've only reached gunpowder once.
Oh wow I didn't know that I got this game 3 days ago
So without those "special" boats, your regular boats sink or something?
And it's only possible for certain factions to reach the Americas?
