If the Army and the Navy
Ever gaze on Heaven's scenes
They will find the streets are guarded
By UNITED STATES MARINES.
He who has shed blood with me shall forever be my Brother...
Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force.
Tae-Guk-Gi
And does Jin-Roh count as a war movie ?
Vorenus, are you my twin brother???
I just finished Tae-Guk-Gi again for the sixth time this morning (in Korea atm), and balled my remaining eye out. Way better than Private Ryan or Band of Brothers.
Jin-Roh just happens to be my favorite anime, with the Japanese voice acting being particularly supurb.
If you like Korean movies I also recommend Musa. Cried at the end of that too.
My parent's were known for their copious amounts of Illegitimate children, so its entirely possible. :hmmm:
Tae-Guk-Gi is easily my favorite foreign movie, and probably my favorite war movie as well. Saving Private Ryan pales in comparison like the Minnesota timberwolves before the Celtics.
Actually, Speaking of foreign war movies, I'll add Joyeux noel to my list, Poor Ponchel![]()
And Jin-Roh I literally just saw for the first time today and finished it 20 minutes ago, and i am in total awe of how great it was. Characters, Plot lines, symbolism, Imagery, Hell, even the re-use of the full-moon made this one of my favorite Anime features. I need to see some more of Oshii's work right now.
And the sound track was absolutely beautiful ! The song played at the ending credit's is just.......
It is a tad depressing though, I think i might have to watch some Tengen toppa gurren lagann to cheer myself up.

Dang it, I had made my list up already when I noticed it was just war movies.
Screw it, I'm posting them anyway. They all have some connection to war.
Forrest Gump (he fights in vietnam)
It's a Wonderful Life (his brother flew in WW2)
Braveheart (war of Scottish independance)
ttt
Adopted son of Lord Sephiroth, Youngest sibling of Pent uP Rage, Prarara the Great, Nerwen Carnesîr, TB666 and, Boudicca. In the great Family of the Black Prince
Well I came close to crying in these three war movies
1)Saving Private Ryan
2)Braveheart
3)Gladiator

I don't think a war movie (except for The Lion King) has ever made me cry, but I have come close...
1) Voyna i mir
Yeah, that's about it.
I was completely wasted when I watched Tae-Guk-Gi. I remember some parts of the movie.... it didn't really grab me by the balls , but as a foreign movie ... most excellent.

For ball grabbing, I think you need to step into the Captain's Cabin....
Yar har har!
Livia, that is you, isn't it, you cheeky monkeyexcept for The Lion King.
Glory is one of my favourite movies. For war movies it is number one, due to the realism of it all. And seriously, how many other movies end with all the main characters dying?
I wanted to rent Tae Guk Gi... it got good reviews from people who hated LOTR and James Bond (people who's opinion I trust)
And for those of you who havent seen:
Ending of last samurai (excuse the beginning)

Tae Guk Gi, definitely. It was hard enough to watch him talking to his dead brother, but the real tear-jerking scene came just afterward, when he returned home. His Mom runs over and hugs him, and tries to cry. Even though she's nearly mute, you can understand all the relief, love, and joy that she's trying to express.
Okay, you bastards have driven me to this.
I have wept after, please don't laugh, The Fox and the Hound...
I DARE ANYONE TO TELL ME I'M NOT A MAN. JUST YOU TRY.

Your days are numbered, gentlemen.
Didnt cry but
Platoon when Willem Dafoe's char is shot by Tom Berenger
Begining of Saving Private Ryan when they run the camera across the beach after that INTENSE opening to see just how many people died for that little foothold
and finally which I did indeed weep in sheer harror Pearl Harbor but for all the WRONG reasons
