    Default total war TV show

Did anyone see a TV show in England on Channel 4, where they had people come in and try and win a historical battle. Im sure that they used Rome Total war in the programme.

Im gagging to watch this again. Does anybody know what the show was called or where I can find it.

There were two shows: Decisive Battles and Time Commanders. I think Time Commanders is the one you are referring to.

Hey mate, the names of the shows are Decisive Battles and Time Commanders. As far as I know, they're not brodcasted anymore. However, video sites like YouTube might have the episodes availible.

P.S. Here's some Decisive Battles video:

    2)Thermopalye

It's possible that both programmes used TW, it's also possible that another did as well. AFAIK Time Commanders has never been aired in Australia but I have certainly seen something that used TW... just not entirely sure if it was Decisive Battles or something else because I remember the program I watched was concerned more with archaeology than the battles.

It's a brilliant tool, I've imagined the archaeology of many of my battles in MTW and M2TW, looking at the field of dead, the direction that people fled the field, the location of General's last stands etc., it's also a bit of a dissapointment to see thousands of corpses on a bridge, or some other place that doesn't lend itself well to archaeological investigation.

Yeah, I've seen the programmes. They're actually quite age-old, they've been rolled soon after Rome war released.

Yes. It was Decisive Battles (which I saw and forced me to buy my first PC and purchase RTW), and Time Commanders, which I have never seen, but heard a lot about.

Take a look at the 'Similar Threads' below and you will see.

I've seen an episode (don't know the program's name) that was about Alexander the Great and Darius. I'm positive they used Rome Total War, although they did have more then 240 units in a phalanx and went over the 20 unit army limit.

Yes, they did for sure. I guess they had to 'dumb down' the game for the average consumer's PC.

Did the enemy general charge into a phalanx?

I think the game they used for the show was highly modded, it wasn't the standard AI and whatnot.

The decisive battles shows are avalible on google.videos or stage6. I can´t remember exactly on which one I saw them.

I haven´t seen the Time Commanders avalible, legally that is, but these programs rocked. I mailed the production company once to ask if they would produce a third serie of Time Commanders when MTW II came out.

They wouldn´t, I gues there isn´t enough TW nerds, such as me, around.

I think the History Channel uses it on one or two shows.
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

    That's "Time Commanders."

"Time Commanders" was a gameshow using the R:TW engine whereas "Decisive Battles" was a straight-up documentary using the R:TW engine for the visuals.

If you live in the US, you can get "Decisive Battles" on DVD.

One big problem with DVD's is that European DVD's (Films etc) are not really compatable with US DVD players

You never heard of a BIOS flash? Put your DVD players make and model number along with region unlock in google and see what comes up.

I stand corrected, but then I am not very technologically minded
    thanks for the info

    Onto a slightly different point
On the good old BBC on thursday there was an hour long docu-drama on Attilla the Hun, as usual not enough battles in the later stages of his career but well worth watching
