Isn't it possible to re-implement RTW's heir selection mechanism?
Because in my campaign, after Baldwin died heroically taking Damascus and ensuring the safety of my empire and Guy, who had been fending off the Gaza-stacks, died in his sleep (Both of them had become strategic and tactical masterminds with loads of authority) I now have a new king and heir.
But instead of choosing either Baldwins or Guys oldest sons, whom I was carefully grooming to become the new "Powers That Be" in my empire and had good command and other stats, the AI choses Baldwins youngest son as the new King. Unfortunately my new king is deranged, absolutely ignorant, alcoholic, intolerant,... and even with the faction leaders bonus has 0 (ZERO) command and 0 authority. And his son, the heir is exactly like him!!!!!
What's worse, I can't find any pirates to let them die, nor any rebels. And I'm at peace with everyone (and want to remain so for the time being), so no heroic last stand for the buggers.
Stupid random AI
