    Default Constantine and the Cross

    Has anyone seen this movie about emperor Constantine? I heard the battle scenes were not too bad. It is a little dated but no one seems to make any films anymore about this era in history. It is only $3.95 US dollars at Amazon.com

    I have seen it...

    once when I was a kid, once when I entered university and once last year at Easter (and in another country).

    certainly dated, not too bad for a b-movie from the 60s (1962 or thereabouts and yes... there exist much worse films), but don't expect too much historical accuracy from those old cinecitta classics...

    still, they are something of a guilty pleasure to indulge in, especially around Easter time (when the tv is full of them) - plus they are good to get you in the right mood for some barbarian bashing in IBFD

    If you want to find out more movies - check out IMDB. Just be aware that people's movie tastes vary a fair bit.

    Edited: You could also try this TV series out (it's on DVD and made in 2006) - there is an episode about Constantine;

    Thank you for the link Ramon Gonzales y Garcia. I watched the trailer and I liked what I saw. Thank you also Brusilov. I believe I am going to order the series. I wish US TV would have similar programs.

    Does the HBO or History channel not show these types of series?

    The one I enjoyed most was 'Time Commander' where a team of four (two were selected as 'generals' and two were selected as captains) and played a famous battle using the RTW engine. Quite funny at times.

    The BBC is funded by the public (from our TV licenses). It's £135.50 for colour and £45.50 for black and white.

    I missed the first episode (Nero) but managed to catch most of the other ones (I work away from home and didn't have a TV license in the away flat (I would have had to pay another £135.50 to watch it)). I ended up buying the series over here.

    I have the history channel and for some reason there are alot of programs on Hitler or the Nazis. There is also a program called "monsters" which is supposedly about legendary monsters such as bigfoot and loch ness. Once in awhile the History channel shows engineering an empire or several episodes about Barbarians. They once did a docudrama on Bodicae, (spelling?) and a new movie about spartacus that wasn't too bad but I have never seen time commander or the Roman series that Ramon mentioned. Mostly though they don't show anything about late antiquity.

    'Time Commander' made me weep when it came out as at the time I owned an Applemac and knew I would never be able to play this gorgeous game. I used to gnash my teeth at some of the decisions the teams made. Great stuff but not really for the general TV populous of DIY shows and soaps, alas!
