Stainless Steel screwed up my strat map!

I downloaded Stainless Steel simply for the new skins (Russia and Lithuania, in particular).

I installed SS, and upgraded to the 5.1 patch.

Despite the fact that Stainless Steel is in its own mod folder, the mod's strat map models have bled into all of my other Kingdoms campaigns!

This has resulted in a veritable mishmash of wrong-looking faction banners and agents. Rebel banners are replaced with the Irish and Timurid banners. Norway has Novgorod's banner, and Denmark has the Stainless Steel Denmark banner. Scotland, in the Britannia campaign, has the HRE banner. Etc.

Similarly, my Northern European settlements all have the new Northern European city and wooden wall textures from Stalinless Steel. I would prefer the original Northern European look, but I am unable to change it.

Was it deliberate that installing the Stalinless Steel mod would overwrite everything else?

If not, how do I get my vanilla strat map models and banners back?

When I dled SS, it went into its own folder, so everything was fine.

I think you can uninstall SS, but if it overwrote, than you probably just won't be able to open M2TW

I don't know if there's a way to fix that that I'm unaware of, but honestly, if I was in your position, I would re-install M2TW, and if I was to re-install SS, I would ensure that it installed in a separate folder within the M2TW directory (having Kingdoms, it installed in the "mod" folder)...

That's the thing. I already had installed Kingdoms before I installed SS.

SS installed in its own mod folder.

How could it have bled through?

Regardless, what I really care about is getting the right banners, unit skins and city textures on my strat map. How do I change those files?

I'm sorry, but you couldn't be more wrong. I took every precaution when installing Stainless Steel.

I made sure that the installation path was correct (Medieval II Total War/Mods/Stainless Steel).

I even backed up my vanilla MTW2 data file in a separate folder before installing SS. Even when I use these files, nothing on the strap map changes.

Regardless of my complaints, my only real concern is getting my original faction banners and city textures back. I would appreciate some help in that regard, not smarmy one-liners.

Of course I could have been more wrong. I could have written it were evil hackers who broke into your computer to mess with the installation or sth.

Well, I think the mod should be installed in "Medieval II Total War" root folder, it put itself into "/Mods/Stainless Steel" automatically...

Try to reinstall the game, really, and Kingdoms too - it should help.

P.S. delra was 1 minute earlier.

Really - there are some absolutely misterious issues happening, and most of them are solved by sole reinstalling of SS... But you need the whole Medieval, it seems.

I simply deleted the data folder and replaced it with my unblemished backup copy of "data." And no need for a reinstall!

Well, copying folder from backup directory should yield the same results as reinstalling, albeit much faster... Glad you've got everything working, still wonder, how those files got messed up.
