Crashing to Desktop!!!!

Okay, I've read everything I can find but nothing helps. I went to http://www.rometotalrealism.com/downloads.shtml and followed the instructions to the letter on how to download RTR. I did everything exactly as it said in the order it said.

I ran the game then and the new load screen came up but I heard the error sound and it gave me some message about some file with a really weird message. It said Filename: <insert characters with accents above them> does not exist.

So I updated my RTW to version 1.5 and tried again, totally from the start, and now when I bring up the new load screen I hear the error message but now there's nothing.

I have been working on this all day and am ready to snap and really need a drink. Can anyone help?

The rometotalrealism.com is nothing to do with this mod. In the dim and distant past it was the correct site but is no longer. The version of the game there is very old. Where did you get the information about that web site from?

The official web site is http://www.totalrealism.net/

If you are playing with RTW patched to 1.2 (or before) you can play RTR 6 Gold or you can apply patches to play RTR PE (which is a port of RTR 6 to play on RTW 1.5 or RTW BI 1.6).

Both versions are available from the downloads section of the previously mentioned web site.

Oh, if you've only been to that old .com site, you're in for a treat! Poke around here and check things out. There's all kinds of cool new stuff being done.

I wonder why people stil go to the .com site. Just for fun I google total realism and the first site on the list is .org instead of .com

Maybe on other forums the .com is still listed as the official site ? I know people at official total war forum stil think totalrealism.com as the official one. :hmmm:

I searched for Rome Total Realism on Google and that was the first site that came up. I got the game working now though. Thanks for your help.

I'm afraid my roommate might fail his courses now because he's with me every second I'm on the battlefield and I fight a lot

I want to ask though, did anyone experience any problems with their video playback after installing this mod by any chance? After I got it set up my DVD player stopped working on my laptop.
