    Icon5 Religious Conversions: a question ... EDIT: With Quickfixes

    So, I'm playing the Byzantines. I've barely expanded (and only because the Turks have forced my hand). I think I have two Turkish cities. One has since converted to Christianity. The other I just took over and has some unrest.

    All of a sudden, half my commanders (governors) across the entire empire are converting to Islam (I even had a general wish to join my empire whose only trait was "Muslim"!). What's the deal with that? Now I've got civil unrest all over. Why did that happen?! An empire of orthodox Christians battling Muslims all of a sudden convert to Islam? Is this working as designed?

    I pretty much have every Christian religious building you can have in all of my cities. Why are they all converting to Islam?

    A kind of a religion problem is already adressed for Constantinople, or better said, that it starts with pagan indicator.

    I didn't know about what you describe, and it hasn't been reported as yet.

    Any byz players, can you confirm, what C. Kraken experienced?

    However, if we want to have no character-belief-conversion from one religion to another, then we can provide this for version 1.0, alternate to this we can lower the probability. How is the opinion?

    Thank you for the quick response. I really appreciate it. I'm sory for the negative tone. I was having such a fun game, and it got kind of silly for me (not so fun now). Sorry about that.

    Would you like a saved game to look at?

    In the mean time, is there a game file I can edit to change the religion back to Christian for my generals? and make it less likely (or not likely!) that they will convert again?

    You could tell me in which regions this happens and which religious buildings there are (christian and other belief buildings), plus the kind of government building and the walls, that would be enough to get an idea, for me. Good would be to hear also how long it takes until a character is converted, and i assume this happens only if he is hanging around in the settlement, right?

    Here is a Quickfix for the above issues (attachment): Traits file is changed.
    Download, unzip and put this file into your chivalry/data folder, overwrite.

    I'm unsure, if this takes effect for already converted characters in saved games, but most likely, new/other characters won't change the belief that easy anymore, when the own main religious buildings are built, that means buildings like the church, mosque, pagan temple (according to the fitting faction) are very important to have (credits go to BNS for this file change, who internally adressed the issue already some time ago, now i found it again ).

    Thank you for your attention to this issue, DaVinci.

    I assume religious conversions have something to do with the religious buildings in the cities. The Muslim cities I have taken over have Islamic religious structures. I had assumed I should destroy them and make Christian structures. However, the game does not allow me to destroy these structures. Is that working as designed?

    Perhaps these Islamic structures are causing the conversions? If so, how could so few religious structures of a different religion affect the whole empire? If so, why is it not possible to destroy these "heretic" buildings?

    This is not a criticism of the scenario. I am simply bringing up some points that may help you analyze the issue.

    Couldn't you just exclude the non-Muslim factions in the Islamic trait? That would stop conversion completely.

    Here is another pre-patch-release file, tech-tree: Dl, unzip and put this file into chivalry/data folder, overwrite (requires 0.96 installed!)

    It adresses mainly belief conversion issues, i lowered the "sharpness" of the religious conversion probabilities due to buildings, and for example Constantinople starts proper as christian settlement, as well reduced unrest in starting settlements (it'll be easier now, i hope not too easy!).

    I recommend to start a new 0.96 campaign with both update files, and observe the above issues anew.
    Please let me know how a Byz campaign plays out (as well very relevant are the outcomes of Castile, Moors and all crusading campaigns into the Levante with Sicily, France, England or HRE).

    Well, it is concept of Chivalry's challenge to have religious and cultural unrest (for example vs. blitz campaigns etc.), as well conversions shall be possible, but not that exagerated as it seems to be now according to C. Krakens report.
    If it remains that way after applying the above two files, and although playing carefully in foreign cultural rooms (means: providing own religious buildings, and looking after the character traits/ancs), then i'll think about more how we will reduce the possible conversion.

    P.S. The attached edb file here is only for the public use on 0.96, not for our team members for internal updates (file is 0.96-saved-games compatible).
