Default EU 3 Idiot needs help!

I will give a +rep to anybody who helps me...

Anyway, I am downloading the EU3 Demo now, and I need to know some facts.

I am probably going to play an easy faction first, probably France, I need advice.

I played before on a friends computer, and I know this sounds stupid, but how do I merge armies? I put groups of men on the same province, and nothing happens.

How do I lay a siege? I move my armies onto enemy provinces and I am engaged, does this mean they are in the field and I have to beat them there and then I have to siege?

Is there a really easy begginers faction I can play?

    Any special tips and tricks??

    Thanks an advance..

There's a merge button that appears to the corner of the "army box" when you select all your regiments by holding the left mouse button and dragging the square thingy around them... You'll discover these things while trying it out.

Yes, beat any enemy armies there and your forces will start sieging the fortress.

The game's incredibly easy on easy settings, so pretty much any faction will do. Big factions for learning warfare and colonisation and smaller ones for trading and.. surviving. There's no real goal in the game so you can just fool around and get raped by the Ottomans or Austria. That's how you learn.

    Any special tips and tricks??
Just play a lot, you'll learn pretty much everything in a couple of days, the game isn't as complicated as it looks. And read these forums and the Paradox forums too, should give you some ideas.

Also, be sure to get Napoleon's ambition.

I would suggest Mecklenburg in northern Germany for a small trading nation, and Portugal for colonizing and dominating the world.

    Hi guys!
I am new to EU III and I have a few questions:
    1. How can I reduce Inflation?
    2. How can I raise the "growth rate" of colonists?
    3. What is the point of gold?
Thanks for your answers! will give +rep

Drag your treasury slider to the left until it says your inflation is being changed by at least -0.01. The National Bank NI is also useful

    2. How can I raise the "growth rate" of colonists?
Send more colonists, and raise tolerance levels for the religion of that colony.

    3. What is the point of gold?
The resource? It adds to production and CoT value, but too much gold can raise inflation.

Yes, since you would not train gold in market but keep it into your treasury.
