Just putting this up for anyone who wants to use it with DLV 4.0.3. I ended up porting a lot of values from the incredible RealCombat 1.3 unit file, but added in some changes of my own (made militias even less effective, changed up some unit costs, etc). This isn't anything to do with battle AI, just some reworking of the unit stats, which will:

-Make Militia much less effective all around- Spear and Town militia can now really only put up a serious fight against each other, and otherwise are mainly good for holding a line, hiding behind their shields and getting killed while you try to flank their attacker with a better unit (hopefully you have some!). Spear militia also can't devastate heavy cavalry so much anymore, and will be terrified of said cavalry, but can still do some lucky damage if forced into a last stand (like fighting to the death in a town center). Swordsmen as well generally slaughter militia now, and cause them to break and run if not supported.

- Most archers CANNOT fight it out with melee units and have any hope of living. You must PROTECT them if you want to keep them now, using peasant archers as a fighting reserve is no longer feasible! Militia and peasant archers have been severly toned down in their effectiveness, they're now still a threat to unarmored troops but less so to chainmail and above (although somehow they still do kill them, but no longer mow armored troops down like before). Specialized archers such as Retinue Longbowmen, Scots Guard, and etc are still effective melee fighters as well, but militia will just get killed and run.

- Heavy Cavalry armor on many units has been largely increased (thanks to RealCombat values), and their costs/upkeep has risen to reflect this. Same with other armored units- the more armored they are, the more dramatically their cost has risen. Other units like militia spearmen have had their costs lowered, and their attack/defense values will reflect this.

- Heavily armored units will now need to be countered by armor-piercing weapons to kill them effectively. Two opposing units of heavily armored (1 handed) swordsmen will now spend more time banging their swords on each other's armor than killing each other. If you send in some axemen/macemen on the flank of the opposing armored swordsmen during such a melee, get ready for a bloodbath to ensue in your favor! The weapon balancing feels much better to me now, as 1 handed swords wouldn't have had an easy time against heavy chain or plate armor! If a weapon couldn't pierce through armor or smash it (and the limbs underneath it) in reality, it shouldn't be able to easily in the game now.

- Leather armor has had it's value set to 3 instead of 4, because it causes the screwy armor upgrade system to work much more as it should with this tweak.

- On the unit cost changes, I got most of these from RealCombat, kept some for DLV, and made a few of my own. Heavily armored troops now cost more and use more upkeep. Same for Elite troops, and heavily armored cavalry costs have been largely increased. Militia units have been made cheaper. Some units have had their initial cost lowered, but use up more upkeep (ie Viking Raiders, Highlanders, etc).

Many thanks to Repman and the rest of the DLV team for this wonderful mod that finally made Medieval 2 worth playing IMO, and also much thanks to Point Blank who created the RealCombat mod with more work than I ever want to do for a computer game!

If anyone tries this out and notices the AI doing stranger things than it already does in battles, or producing nothing but militias a hundred years into a game (I'm only at 1200AD in my campaign with these values, and it's much HARDER!), please let me know. Porting this over to DLV 5.3 should probably be an easy copy and paste operation, assuming the newer units have been added in at the bottom of the unit file. I'll probably do it myself eventually, right now I don't want to look at the export_descr_unit file again for a long, long time.

Note: Remember, this is ONLY for DLV 4.0.3 right now. BACK UP your original export_descr_unit file before installing so you don't have to reinstall the whole DLV mod if you don't like this!
