I liked it up until they killed Eko off. Then it started to get boring.

Yeah i think its shite too.
I lost all interest after it lost the plot..
So 2nd episode.
Also, what with the polar bear?? Was that ever explained??
Well, maybe if you would've followed the show, you might've found out the answer to that question, Magic Man.. :hmmm:
Anyway, I wholeheartedly disagree. There's not much more I can say, because it's likely that any arguments I may have for why I really like the show can be countered by pretty much the same arguments except favoring the disliking side..
It seems to me that people sometimes expect too much of today's writers and want every single episode to be of the highest quality. That's never going to happen. Sometimes an episode is good, sometimes it's awful. Overall, I think the series is strong and interesting..
I also happen to be a huge fan of the new Battlestar Galactica and it suffers from the same problem many people have with Lost: people wonder how much of it was thought out in advance versus how much was thought up on the spot and there have been some dreadful episodes in the third season, including (in my opinion) the season finale. Does that mean I'll give it up because of that? No, because overall the series is still good and exciting..
Polar bears were one of a number of biological specimens transported to the island by DHARMA during its occupancy decades previously. They kept the bears in the cages later used by the Others to imprison Kate and Sawyer - the animals were subjected to intelligence tests.
As to why these tests were peformed? Unknown - presumably tied into whatever mysterious, near-magical qualities the island has which appear to make some heal from injuries at extreme rates, to make others apparently unable to die or grow older, why there are temporal anomalies on the island, someone who can see the future, an invisible entity named Jacob apparently being imprisoned and used by Ben, a sentient cloud of black smoke that guards the island, etc., etc.
But the animals escaped or were released by the Others after DHARMA were destroyed. That's why they living wild on the island and are probably very angry about having to live in a sub-tropical environment they're completely unsuited for. Hence their aggression toward hapless crash-survivors.
And that's why. Personally I love 'Lost', have seen every episode and I intend to watch the rest of it. It's innovative, ground-breaking stuff. The only show in years to actually try new slants on story-telling devices.

I must say that overall I like the show and will continue to watch. I realized by the end of episode 2 that the writers only had a starting concept but by now I've come to peace with that. The real question is, in the genre, what out there is better?
Formerly a man did not dare to think freely; now he dares but cannot, his will to think is merely a willingness to think to order and this he feels as his liberty. - Oswald Spengler, Decline Of The West
It does not appeal to me. Therefore I have never watched it. this can not be considered hate.
I like it.
It's a show that requires you to fill in blanks, think and try to fit everything together.
Just like good books and good films.
What's the fun of being guided from a to b along a linear path?
This way everyone has different answers to the back story and things that have happened on the island and what the island exactly is.
In that case it sounds good. I might give it a look in.
I watched only episode one, then it became boring and the scenario made up from nothing (for example, new inhabitants appear frequently). I don't even know what episode is going on now when I change channels.
I see there's another island with "civilization", why can't they go home then?
"Europe has no balls to accept our truth, but has no gas to dictate its will"
Certainly it isn't a program for people without an attention span. Wrestlemania is more the thing for you, I think.
The Others who occupied that other island are:I see there's another island with "civilization", why can't they go home then?
A) Protecting the secrecy of the island from an outside group called the Hanzo Foundation which originally sponsored a research initiative to examine the island's mysteries (the now-destroyed DHARMA Initiative), and the last thing they want is a bunch of crash-survivors leaking stories about the place.
B) In need of fresh recruits and especially fertile women who can be used for their reproductive experiments - and the crash-survivors can supply.
C) Preventing people who attempt escape from navigating their way out - or from using long-distance communications to send a distress signal - by jamming the island's old DHARMA-connections to the outside world (which were needed to bypass the seclusion-effect of the island's thus-far unexplained nature) using an underwater station called the Looking-Glass.
Season 3 ended with the Looking Glass being disabled and contact being made with a ship - which was probably a mistake since the crew of that ship are probably in the pay of the Hanzo Foundation.
So there you are.

Is it really possible to hate a tv show?
