Hi,
Is there any difference if you play RTR through using RTR Platinum and RTR Platinum BI?
At first sight I see the very same factions to choose.
Thank for the help.

In essence both games are identical, except that RTR Platinum BI uses the RomeTW-BI.exe instead of the RomeTW.exe. The AI is a little more aggressive and some AI controlled factions will actually do naval invasions.
Yep, that's the main reason to use BI on RTR-PE. What you have to remember is that PE was developed primarily as a direct port of Gold to the 1.5 engine. In general, the team has tried to stay as close to Gold as possible while fixing bugs and doing the necessary rebalancing based on game engine changes.
Several of the mods based on PE do take more advantage of BI, though, like Ancient Empires, Imperator/MNM, and the Extended Realism mod.

Hehe - it only goes to show that there's still plenty of life left in the old dog yet.
I'm still having as much fun with Gold and Platinum today as I did when Gold first came out - what was it - nearly 2 years ago!?
One thing I really like about Platinum over Gold is that you have more control over when the Marius reforms occur.
I'm currently waiting with keen anticipation for Limes latest incarnation of his Ancient Empires mod. It looks pretty amazing from the preview.![]()
you get shield wall and much better cavalry.
If correctly used, one unit of heavy cavalry may destroy a quarter to half of one infantry unit by just one charge.

I've started a Rome campaign with RTR PE using the RomeTW-Alex executable. The campaign at the start is less silly in that Illyria tended to to a sea borne invasion before, quickly followed by Carthage.
Anyway, if anyone has Alexander TW and they want to use it to play RTR PE the following post will help (original details supplied by Maced0n); http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showp...24&postcount=5
That is also true of RTR 6 Gold. I have a Macedon campaign going (in 156AD at the moment) where some armies have been around since the start of the campaign and they have three gold chevron experience and silver weapon and armour upgrade. I've seen a single unit of my heavy cavalry hit a legionary unit from the rear it's all over in a single charge (no modding of files either).
Here's one of those armies;
