I am afraid that save is corrupt (I haven't come across that error before), no choice but to use an earlier save.
Same problem here with Vanilla Kindoms mod: proof link
And with old Stainless Steel 6.4: proof link
After thorough search it seems this is the 3rd instance of the problem in all (recorded) Medieval II modding history which I find hard to believe...
Observations:
1. Loading previous saves doesn't work, it seems all the saves from the playthrough get corrupted.
2. The error must have something to do with family tree, so prolly just these files: descr_strat.txt, descr_names.txt, names.txt
3. I checked the files with bovine checker (no critical errors) and once manually (also seems fine)
4. I will check the descr_strat family trees manually again, so if theory is correct this is the file that causes it
5. The error is quite rare so this is quite difficult thing to test
Edit. I think I found the reason: I used names for rebel characters not present in descr_names.txt and names.txt, so the game couldn't properly save them.

Hi everyone,
I have a big problem with my mod because there is always a bug during the 32nd turn. I've been thinking about it for 2 weeks and nothing
I can't find anything in the log. Please help.
Judging by the last lines it's an issue with leadership. Follow up on these two triggers:
18:11:32.379 [game.script.trigger] [trace] Trigger <Royal_Blood_HRE_CharacterComesOfAge_Father> fired
18:11:32.379 [game.script.trigger] [trace] Trigger <HeirPW_hre> fired
And that's a massive list of random_birth triggers...
thanks for the quick reply but unfortunately I don't know what you are talking about. I don't know much about that, sorry. Could you explain it to me in more detail?
I was under the impression that you were the author of the mod, hence my technical instruction.
If you are a 'player only' then you can overcome the issue by temporarily disabling the trait triggers:
- locate the mod's directory by right clicking it's desktop short cut and choosing 'open file location'
- navigate to the mod's 'data' directory
- find the export_descr_character_trait file and make a copy of it
- open the original with Notepad
- Press CTLR+F and enter WhentoTest, press 'find'
- go up one line where it says trigger
- delete everything from there including the 'trigger' line
- save, load you campaign and try to progress.
- if it worked then save your campaign, delete the edited export_descr_character_traits file (or keep it somewhere for another time) and restore the original file
Yes, I am an author but only a beginner: D
Thank you, it looks like the problem has been resolved
I had a trait added to each character in the descr_strat. I just deleted everything from descr_strat and export_descr_character_trait. There was probably a bug, but these things I didn't need.
Hello! I've been adding regions to my campaign map to avoid the large region crash. I've increased the overall count to 29, after that my game started crashing when attempting to start campaign or custom battles, generating map.rtw every time. Logs seem to say that the last file loaded is descr_sounds_music_types.txt . From looking through the forums, I've seen solutions such as stray pixels on region map or too few factions; adding factions to th campaign or checking for strays did not help. What could be causing this issue?
Technically two factions are enough as long as one is slaves. See my sample maps.
29 regions should be sufficient provided you do not have the odd super sized one.
Apart from stray pixels it could also be faulty 'rivers' in map_features. That can be easily checked by replacing the file with a completely black one.
Have a look if you can load your mod in Geomod, with that tool it's fairly easy to check for stray pixels: with the tool delete all regions but one and then check if you can find a strange colored pixel, to make very sure change the color of the region to a contrasting one - don't save on exiting the tool !!
Hi I'm running into a crash that is giving me some trouble. Added crossbowmen to both spain and hre but only the hre version crashes when loading a battle. The thing is that the log files don't tell me what happened. Checked the model_db file and so far no problems. Any idea?
Getting stratmap CTDs whenever an army (Polish in this case) advances towards a destination or out of a city. I'm using KGCM along with optional patches. I haven't updated my exes to use >2GBs, so that's my suspicion as to the CTD.
Creator of UNREAL, balance mod series that promises changes to everything Total War, and it's offshoots, MEGA for other games. Basically, I'm reject Radious.
Crossbow crashes - could be texture related, check that the relevant entries in modeldb are correct. Exchange hre texture entries with spain's - that should confirm if that is the case.
KGCM - it's worth a try, memory related issues don't leave conclusive log entries.
It outputs this kind of stuff in the stratmap log, but it does NOT yet check the validity of names used for actual characters in descr_strat or scripted ones, I'm afraid. Seems the time to make that test is now.
text/names.txt 9373: Name {vahanc} is duplicated for translation "default".
text/names.txt 9735: Name {zois} is duplicated for translation "default".
Translation default includes name text for name code umar_shaykh, but this name code is not used by any faction for neither surname, male first name nor female first name.
Translation default includes name text for name code samusd, but this name code is not used by any faction for neither surname, male first name nor female first name.
Faction spain defines woman name inmaculada in descr_names.txt. Translation english does not provide any display text for this name.
Faction spain defines male first name alfonsoa in descr_names.txt. Translation german does not provide any display text for this name.
------------
The crossbow failure may however be reported, if there is a file linkage problem for the unit. Check the unit log for that.

- Doctor, I have a pain in my left foot.
- Certainly, I have just the treatment for that. Hold still while I tie you to a chair and set fire to your house. Your pain will be gone in a jiffy!

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image. - Stephen Hawking
As of the version uploaded a few minutes ago, the checker should now be able to identify if you have name references in descr_strat or script that are not defined for the faction in question.

issues with names? or generals somehow ending up without names, I have a vague memory of that being an issue
There's the cloned character thing in RTW but I thought that was only RTW and also not save related https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...1#post10890274
EDIT; the no names thing apparently you and I were discussing about 8 years ago http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...having-no-name
