    It would seem the problem was a hardcoded limit on how many units each building could have as recruitable. Spain/Vikings did share all the Viking units.. It became too much! The mod is extremely stable as of now- and the Viking factions are now their own.

    But i want more factions with new units etc. So it's not finished yet. But the ctd depended on a limit.

    I suppose the "hardcoded limit on how many units each building could have as recruitable" find is related to how many per faction at any given time, not the overall total as such?

    The most entries per building level are about 120, whereas at EBII we have 160 - hence my thought.

    My guess would be it's 8 per category (UI display problem related I venture..), eg missile infantry, sword infantry, missile horse, sword horse etc

    So, ran into a problem with my Scots campaign at turn 400+.

    The Viva la Rebellion submod contains the following in the campaign_script:

    The problem is Stainless Steel 6.4 with RR "Yeoman" are actually named "Yeoman Archers".

    This causes:

    I had a go at editing the save game file as I found the line with this spawn event and replaced "Yeoman" with "Yeoman Archers". As expected the save fails to load - I believe it is stored in a compacted datatable format, but I have no doubt the line could be edited if I could figure out the encoding/formatting.

    I think I will start a new campaign with the revised script, then copy the code section from the .save file into the old save to see if this fixes the issue.

    Has anyone had any luck editing save game data? I know an old tool exists that can edit basic campaign information so I imagine it is possible with the correct syntax.

    I am surprised that the game would hard crash like this when spawning an invalid unit, rather than handling it though error exception handling and continuing on.

    My suggestion: clone (copy) the Yeoman Archer entry in the EDU and change the name (type and dictionary), do the same with the text\export_units entry . That should solve your problem - unless stainless steel uses all unit slots in the EDU.

    Save game editing has been fairly unsuccessful afaik.

    Unfortunately Stainless Steel uses all 500 unit slots, but I was able to successfully edit the save game file. I was unable to figure out the exact encoding syntax, so I simply replaced the six character long "Yeoman" entry with another of the same length "Aldari" and the problem was resolved.

    I intend to dig a bit deeper into the save game format syntax in the future as it could be immensely useful for testing purposes.

    Im modding the Crusades Campaign for Kingdoms. The mods name is Slowness. Whenever I start the mod, it immediately starts up with a blank error message an CTDs. Any help?

    Whenever a fort is built by a certain faction, the game crashes few seconds after. For other factions it works fine. It happens in my patch for The Elder Scrolls, with faction Kingdom of Valenwood.

    Any idea what might be causing this? The faction is one of those that were created recently. However, the other newly created factions dont have this problem, so not sure. I suppose it might be a missing picture or model?

    Log doesnt say anything...

    Is the faction using a faction_variant style model_strat approach? I am suspecting the model of the fort, you will get the default fort used via the entry in descr_cultures, the faction_variant principle allows models of the same name (but different model altogether) to be used via teh variant sub folder method - see the teutonic campaign for the principle.

    Faction_variant is not used for any faction in this patch. There is only an unused sub folder for teutonic_order. The faction is not even in game so it is probably not doing anything... The faction is using the same models as other factions from the same culture. These faction can build forts normally.... Any other ideas?

    Can you get me a crash log? Simply create the fort and then stop doing anything until it crashes. Might get an idea where the reason lies.

    Here you go, it doesnt seem to be saying anything related... The faction is using southern european models, so the few warning reports about some other models probably dont have much to do with our problem... When a fort is built, and you do absolutely nothing (not even clicking etc), it might take even few mins. Doing somth usually makes it happens sooner....

    That was a good find - but then the expanded file is one of those TXT files in the data\text folder that does not accept small caps within the brackets. I am assuming a copy\paste issue when creating the new faction's entry? Better check all other entries related to that faction in there as well.

    I would suggest to at least clean up all the settlement related errors. In most cases it's a simple issue of changing the starting population (or lower the minimum in descr_settlement_mechanics), the castle errors simply need a level adjustment in the descr_strat entry.

    "We should have only.." are false positives related to anti trait entries - which doesn't work in M2TW.

    Not sure if posting at the right place, but ... I am having some trouble with, well... I have no idea what,
    I "addided two new factions" via editing the Saxons and the Normans. All is good. Then I go to the Custom Battle, and...
    I can select units, but if I take too long, the game crashes. CTDs. To be specific, it gets a loading bar first, then the CTD. It is completely random, sometimes the CTD comes seconds later, sometimes I am fast enough to get an actual battle. What the...
