    Hi guys,

    I'm experiencing a CTD after an Americas faction capture a citadel. The result is the same whether the battle is fought or auto-resolved.

    In my mod, citadels are only buildable by one faction; byzantium (northern_european). The upgrade option is disabled for everyone else, and this seems to work fine on its own. The first crash was while playing as the apache (nativeindian). I then tried capturing the settlement with different factions, including england (northern_european), timurids (nativeindian, the same as the Apache) and chichimeca (mesoamerica). Crashes did not occur with england or the timurids; I played a few more turns, built buildings in the citadel, and so forth and no problems, so the latter in particular seems to rule out culture as a problem, but I could be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time!).

    Playing as the apache, the CTD occurs consistently about 2.5 after pressing any of the Occupy/Sack/Exterminate buttons.

    Playing as the chichimeca, the CTD was the same as above the first time. The second time, after pressing the button, I waited a few seconds and was able to open the building page, schedule some repairs and new buildings, before navigating down to the chichimeca homeland, and then navigating back to the citadel, at which point it then crashed.

    I have attached logs for all three incidents. I'm wondering if the problem lies somewhere in the campaign_script, which is inherited from the Americas campaign (upon which my mod is built). I've attached the campaign_script, too.

    If someone could take a quick look at the logs, I'd really appreciate it.

    If I want to test and see if the campaign_script is the culprit, what's the best way to go about that? i.e. can I just replace it with an "empty" script and try that?

    I think the problems lies in descr_cultures: there is no provision for the upper level of settlements in the indigenous cultures which may cause problems with the strat model - something we came across in EBII. Simply copy the entries from another culture and replace the strat model entry with a more suitable (or don't bother).

    Edit: looking at the logs the ending of the two Chichi logs seems to support that. And please shorten the folder name of the mod: extensive path length causes problems with battle unit model attachments (another EBII find).

    I tried adding those provisions to descr_cultures, but it had no noticeable effect. I did notice something, though. In the Chichimeca crash, it seemed to happen as I was mousing over the citadel itself (after capture). Sure enough, I checked expanded.txt and a number of entries are lacking for the Apache, Chichimeca and others, including "Apache Citadel", etc. I'll add these in later tonight and report back, but that would make sense and explain why the Timurids (who I have set to the nativeindian culture) did not have any crash.

    The folder name is 15 characters. Is that too long? I've no problem changing it; it's only that long so we can easily tell versions apart, but we can do that other ways. What number of characters might you suggest?

    Lacking basic expanded.txt entries might cause a problems, check my tut's template for those entries.
    Bring it down to 5 characters, acronym plus 2 digits for version while in development. Once released avoid version numbers as it can lead later to confusion - see Stainless Steel where the base folder is SS6.3 while the actual version by now is 6.4

    Only within the brackets - outside doesn't matter, that said the percentage sign with a letter is a placeholders for amounts or prefixes (see examples below). Check if the font you have installed is able to display it.

    Sorry Gig, I actually meant special characters within the name of the mod folder. i.e. 'CandE' vs 'C&E'.

    Tip: make your mod MAC friendly, gives it more exposure. And Steam compatible with a universal BAT file, see Bare Geomod's BAT file, you can use it with a small, cosmetic edit as long as your CFG file is called 'configuration.cfg'

    Replace the red part with your mod's name - that get's displayed if the mod has been installed into the wrong directory
    Replace the blue part if you want to use a different CFG file name

    So I used Geomod to add a bunch of regions to my game, and everything seems to run fine except when i try to load a saved game. Newly created saves after adding these regions just results in the game going to a load screen, then the load bar moves for a second, then another loadscreen, and leads to a CTD. Any idea what the culprit is?

    Crash to menu is an issue with descr_strat. The tool most likely couldn't handle a minor formatting issue like a missing comma and scrambled the file. Did you get any error messages when loading your mod the first time?

    It is important to first check the original set up if it is compatible before starting to mod it by simply saving it without any edits. You will also need to verify your edits all the time.

    I have crashes when trying to load saves from two campaigns, while the rest work fine... any idea what could be behind this?

    The log isnt saying anything interesting except that once it claimed there was an incorrect faction string in one of the diplomacy lines (eventho it looked good),but after removing it, still crash...

    It was some issue in descr_win_conditions... when there is something fishy in it (like non existing regions) it would crash when loading saves...

    Someone shuold add it into the OP, it has happened quite a few times in other mods and people couldn have figured it out...

    I am aware that the game will crash the moment you select a faction with invalid win_condition entries, this one is new to me.
