you should really spend your first Denari on the mines. I know there's one in Arretium, and there's another one i'm sure.
the other one is reghion. mines are good for the first few turns, but then build shrines so you can raise the tax. roads are good to support troops + help with trading. Only build walls around a frontier place but i would recommend walls around arretium. also forget about having great morale and a huge population boost, raise taxes. With temples you wont need to worry about morale and having population skyrocket is bad because you just spend mor money on the next set of builings.
First turns i build the basics like Ports, Traders and Roads.
Then when all has settled down in italy i build mines and military buildings.

68 powers is right too. mines cost all 5000 denarii and will get you the same amount if you build traders and ports in every city.
i would like to go a bit off topic. but can somebody help me with with corruption.
i am playing spqr 6.4 without script and loyalty i have a governor in evey city with at least 3 stars of management but i am losing about 15000-17000 denarii each turn to corruption.
i have noticed that there is no corruption in the italian cities but major corruption in africa and spain and little in gaul.
how do i counter it?
well to solve gaining the lost money starting conquesting becuase you bring in booty. One of the reason the romans fell was because they stopped conquesting and didnt have the booty to pay for everything. I would first rebuild your governing policy. Watch out for governors that spend extravegeantly (its a trait) also take the governors that are corrupt and do your conquest with them or take them out of the city. Hope it answers your question
build all buildings that restore order it takes the corrution away for a bit![]()

if your money is over 150k your going to have huge problems.
‡Peace on earth - Death to the Enemy!‡
1.Law reduces corruption, Happiness(Arenas, Academies, some temples) doesn't. Though, Happiness, that is brought by different types of cultural buildings, and Law influences on order in the settlement.
2. More distance from the capital - more corruption the sity/town has.
3. Corruption is a matter of a governor, who is in charge of the sity. So, If governor has traits or retinues, that increases Law, corruption will be less.
o well got my economie started up every thing is going well now defeated hannibal wit one legion and captured taras from the rebells (thy kickt carthage out of there) and destroit 2 gaul armies and still have my 3 legions haaaaa this is going well for me

i cant do much with the starter legion, although the 5th legion has done outstanding works on the battle field as well as for the plebians. If you want extra money the best way i have found to get money is to build Mines, forums, and roads. Ports dont help as much in my expierience because i dont have many trading buddies.
yeah i started building the mines, formums and roads. now i am setting up the ports![]()

actually right now im in 199 B.C. (with garrison script) and i havent had one rebellion.
me neither
@68Powers:
150 k? i thought 50.000 was the limit and then corruption started??
the more money in the bank the less loyal the generals are. If you have 50,000 k in the bank i think loyalty is lost. 150 k is when corruption starts i think. To stop this keep building armies and build religous + military buildings. I usually end up with 200 denarii at the end of the turn when i usually start with 30 k
100k + starts the bad traits of POSSIBLY happening. Has nothing to do with your generals loyalty unless they are corrupt etc. lol
