Default Medieval 2 - Gold Edition

This is just a short message to anyone who has yet to buy Medieval 2 (maybe on here to check out the community). Medieval 2 Gold Edition will be available to buy on 1st February. Gold Edition contains Medieval 2 and Kingdoms in one handy package.

Sorry, if this is considered irrelevant. Just trying to help!

Give it to a friend if you don't need it.

They should hand them out in schools if you ask me, history is always more interesting when your in command and crushing peasants!
There are two kinds of officers, sir: killin' officers and murderin' officers. Killin' officers are poor old buggers that get you killed by mistake.

Murderin' officers are mad, bad, old buggers that get you killed on purpose - for a country, for a religion, maybe even for a flag!

If MTW2 is given to all the children in Houston's schools they will believe that everyone in Europe speaks English, but with funny accents. Hmmm, I guess that's true nowadays, isn't it? So, soon ya'll over there will be speaking American and we'll all be speaking Spanish. Personally, I'd prefer Italian because it is so......Italian. Much easier for us old people to lip read and don't require no funny alphabet like Greek or Arabic or Hebrew or Russian or Chineese.

Will this version be updated to include the patches as well as all the exciting bugs that normally come free of charge? We I be able to play with other MTW and Kingdom MP players? I'm always worried about this when new versions of games come out.

I might get this instead of buying TW:Kingdoms as a separate CD.

    Thanks for the heads-up!

I honestly don't know. I got Rome - Gold Edition (Rome / BI) and that was already pre-patched to v1.5, so I assume that this will be the same.

I am very pleased with myself, I was able to spread the word of MTW2 last night by firstly showing a friend the game and then taliking about the fact the Gold edition is coming out soon. He his hooked, bit late on the up take but never to late to start.

I'll probably give it to a friend yes. Or if we get another computer at my house I'll install it there for quick LAN battles..

What else does the Gold edition offer but Kingdoms?
I mean I have the gold edition of the first 3 games (with Eras) and they don't seem to be too special?

So if I am already ordering Kingdoms, is a bad choice? should I have waited for it to come out as gold edition?

The gold edition should come with a written apology from CA to all people who played an unpatched vanilla M2TW. It should also a T-shirt that reads "I survived v1.0". That would be reason for all of us who own the game to purchase a gold edition :-)

It would be nice if CA took the approach that Civ4 did with the Beyond the Sword expansion which included polished versions of popular user made mods. This would show their appreciation to the modders, like Lusted, KK, et al, with recognition and a little compensation. If it wasn't for these guys mods I would never have retrieved my copy of M2TW from the garbage because thats where I threw it after 2days of playing.

Couldn't agree more. I can't even play because of ctd.
Kingdoms (the more boring of the two) runs like a dream but m2tw ctd everytime.
I'd have to be insane to buy this, or empire.

Sorry for adding to this thread so long after the last post. I have a couple of questions if I may.

I bought MTW2 Gold yesterday, although I have not had a proper go yet. Just a quick 10 minute look.

    1) I am wondering if it is patched, as I gather the vanilla version is a bit of a nightmare.

    2) The one battle I had a look at was quite jerky. I don't have a beefy system, only a 128mb graphics card. My question is this. When editing the graphics options. What settings are best to turn down in order to making the game run smoother? In RTW turning the grass off made a huge difference. Is that the case with MTW?

I am looking forward to a MTW experience. I was getting a bit bored of RTW.

    Cheers in advance

What? with empire not even being out?
That a pretty presumptious thing to say . I hate it when people say games are bad based on technical problems
