Man, I'm glad you pointed that out. Your posts are very hard to read. I can't imagine how hard they are to read for someone who English is not their first language.

These books are apparently only available in English...Not in Dutch

Brilliant series of books, worth buying if you're interested in the Roman Legions. I certainly enjoyed them.

    Blackshamrock,

Thanks, I just ordered the first two in the series since I just finished my other book. For those who like Spartans and the 300, (I'm sure there's not many here....) I would highly recommend "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield. that has to be the greatest book on the subject in way of fiction I've ever read.
Yes, I hate the fact RTW is out and I still have a Japanese title. Come on now admins- let's get with the program.

The Simon Scarrow books are fantastic if you are interested in Roman history and especially Roman military history. I also highly recommend them

I prefer to read non-fiction books as in a novel it may be hard to work out what is factual and fantasy on the part of the author.

I've just finished "Rubicon" by Tom Holland. It's a decent read but not as interesting as his "Persian Fire" which covers the Persian / Greek wars and gives a lot of background material into each of the countries involved (where they came from).

My next book is Gary Forsythe's "A Critial History of Early Rome" (From Prehistory to the First Punic War).

I have a number of Adrian Goldsworthy's books to read as well.

Although I may take a break from non fiction and just read Tom Clancy's "Red Rabbit".

I found "Rubicon" absolutely great. Not such a fiction reader either, but the style of Rubicon was a very nice read. History as a story.

Try "Persian Fire" by Tom Holland and you may see why I thought it was a better book than "Rubicon".

I second this, they are a bit romanticised but still an excellent read.

Also I would recommend the Alexander trilogy by Valerio Massimo Manfredi, which are also quite romanticised in places, but by and large historical, at least as far the chronology of Alexander the Greats life goes.

Hm, I have just finished "Theory of continental law" (850 pages + appendix) and I moved to "History of european contintental law and introduction into the common law" (approx. 1000 pages). Therefore, I just wanted to sincerely express my kind and cheerful feelings that you guys have such a plenty of time to read all those beautiful books, while I am evidently going to spend my whole life reading this crap...Yeesh
