    Default Migration

Hi there. I'm just wondering if anyone does what I tend to sometimes:

I was playing as France, and had a sizeable empire. All of mainland Europe up to about halfway into Poland/Hungary, all of Scandinavia, UK, Iberian peninsula and Italy, minus Rome.

When the Americas appeared, I sent a few armies and took it all, turning Cuba into a castle along the way.

After this I put all my family members on boats and sailed them to the new world, disbanded the rest of my armies and then gave half of my empire to Spain, who were hiding in Africa, and the other half to Venice, who at the time only had Iraklion.

My purpose behind this was two-fold. First of all, I wanted to see what the AI would do with a sudden increase in land, and second, I wanted to see how difficult it would be to reconquer it all.

    Has anyone else tried this?
    I love you all!

I've never moved to America, but I have done this before. I find the AI can't afford to control it all, and it ends up rebelling due to lack of troops, and distance from capital penalty.

I once gave my entire empire to the papal states (except for my capital Marseille) because I wanted to know what happens when you lose. But I had to many generals lingering around and I had just made lots of crusader armies and then let all my generals leave the crusades. Every end-turn was a continuous stream of desertion messages for each individual unit (from 30-40 armies). I eventually got tired of it and started attacking the pope with just single generals. One of them actually managed to kill over 400 enemies (there were still over 2000 left though, most of them pikemen). After that I got bored and started a new campaign.

yup, its strange how many houres you spend to expand your empuire to the fullest. Than comes the urge to start a new campaign, make new tacts, use new units etc...

We fans are more alike than i realised, i started a new campaign as HRE on SS last night and for fun i gave away everything except Nuremburg and Frankfurt to the papal states. I then disbanded all but my Peasants and Peasant Archers, interestingly Eurpope is a lot more peaceful so far.
There are two kinds of officers, sir: killin' officers and murderin' officers. Killin' officers are poor old buggers that get you killed by mistake.

Murderin' officers are mad, bad, old buggers that get you killed on purpose - for a country, for a religion, maybe even for a flag!

I recently started a campaign with the intention of swapping to a weaker faction, and giving the AI control of my original faction, when I get bored. A fresh challenge will keep me interested in playing past the 1200's and it will be fun to see the AI run my once glorious empire into the ground.

Give up conquered territory? Is this some type of American syndrome?

I haven't done this, but I also turn Cuba into a Castle. It would be stupid not to.

I wonder if a princess could be brought over and marry an Aztec?

Actually It doesnt, since the Uk still holds the Faulkland Island and other parts of the carribean, not to mention Canada and Australia still recognize the English monarch as theirs also,

All good empires come to an end, but no empire in history has managed to match that of what was achieved by the British. Not even McDonalds!

Old Geezer: I'm not sure but I think you may be implying that I'm American. For the record I'm not, I'm English. I just figure building back up against an oponent with large resources and technological advances is more fun than conquering them conventionally.

TheOnion: I haven't tried this, but they can be bribed. I once bribed a general, he appeared in battle as just the horse, nothing more. :S

Shucks, Wal-Mart is already bigger than the former Evil Empire (USSR) and is advancing faster than any horde did! Thirty-five years ago you'd have to drive far into the Ozarks to find one; in 20 years it will own the Chi-Coms. Now that's a Blitz.

    I did this twice:

1st time: I was playing as England and controlled the British isles, former France, Scandinavia and some of Egypt. America had just been discovered and I wanted to focus only on America and not be disturbed by Europe (since this was my first time discovering America).

Hardly no factions at all had been completely defeated so I randomly gave away the French provinces to different countries. This resulted in a whole lot of battles back and forth all over France with most European nations involved, resulting in no country being able to threaten Britain because they were spending all their resources in France. Scandinavia I gave to Russia for trading purposes, we had always been getting along good and traded a lot.

The provinces in Egypt were already in deep trouble because of the Timurids and Mongols battling it out down there so I gave them all away to the remaining Islamic factions to see what happened. I kept only Cyprus for trading purposes since I got trade rights with (I think) all Islamic factions in exchange for the provinces.

Then with Europe in a turmoil worse than I had ever seen before I simply kept outside and focused on America, probably not even looking at the European part of the map for the next 10 turns or so. This leads me to the second time.

2nd time: In the same campaign, I had conquered the Americas and wiped out the Aztecs. Now, I was bored. I didn't know if I would have to wait for the Spanish to come to the Americas themselves or if they would never come, so I gave north America and Cuba to them. Shortly after, I declared war upon them and waited to see what happened.

What happened? My Graphics card broke and I haven't been able to play Medieval 2, since!

Would the Spanish have attacked me and would they have found America without my help? Please tell me?
