Unspecified error? Patch 1.2 is the cause for me! Help?

Sorry, don't really know where to put this, can't figure out how to post on tech help forums. Anyone here, can you help me? MTW II worked fine until i downloaded patch 1.2, and now it gives me "Medieval II has encountered an unspecified error and will now exit". Why is this? It worked for my friend, but not for me, though i see that a bunch of people have this problem.

It's possible the download file for v1.2 is corrupted, so you might have to download the patch again.
However, I suggest that you do a complete reinstall of M2TW first.

Thanks for moving me. As for the response, I've downloaded the patch from multiple sources multiple times, including the Kingdoms disc, so thats a no.

If your friend has it figured out, why not have him do it for you?

We did the same things; he installed patch directly from Kingdoms disc. So, um, there is no reason that mine doesn't work and his does. As I said, I have dled it from online sources AND the Kingdoms disc, both with the same results.
