please help with some opinions on system specs?

Hi.

I am not the most pc litetrate persona dn I am having difficulty. M:TW2 lags like a so-and-so when i try to play. I use auto detect settigns and it still lags and jerks around, making the game unplayable.

My specs are;

AMD Athalon (single core3400+)
2 Gig Ram
NVidia 7300GS (which is 128mb up to 1 gig of system ram so it should be running at 512mb)

I ahve checked the requirements and I should be ok. WHat is the potential problems? ( i re ins talled the ga,e twice and it has no patches since bought in may '07)

I would really appreciate some suggestion/ advice/ pointers form thjose in the know!

Turn down the shaders and effects, they seem to make it lag quite a bit more than the other options.

I was curious to know if some background progroms were clogging the processer? Being such a demanding game I wonder if the athalon is getting "distracted"?
