Unit Flags/Banners

Hi There,

I'm not a modder but am playing RTR. I wanted to ask: is there any way of turning off unit flags/banners on the battle map? And also, is there any way of turning off the green arrows that appear under the feet of soldiers on the battle map when units are selected? If anyone can give me some simple advice on how to turn off these things I'd be really grateful. Many thanks!

Try out this link. Scroll down to the section entitled "Hader’s quick guide to preferences.txt " and you will see two bullets, one for the banner and one for the arrows.

In order to find your preferences.txt file to begin with, open up your "My Computer" folder, browse to C Drive --> Program Files --> Activision --> Preferences. There should be a Preferences.txt file there that you can open.

You may find that there is more than one preference.txt file in a RTW BI mod.

I found the following;

In the main game folder
In the preferences folder

If you have a mod switch version of a game there can be a preferences folder within the mod folder itself. This is true for TIC - it's in TIC\preferences. It's the version in there to modify to get the changes you want.

If you are unsure which one is the one used in-game set one of the settings (I usually sound provider to EAX3 as I have a SB X-FI card) and then see which one it is. I've changed the minimal UI several times only to find that I've not changed the right one.....

There won't be a preferences.txt file until you have either launched the campaign or a custom battle (I think the one used is copied from one of the other two).
