Hello all, new member here. Been playing M2 for a while and I was wondering how is the loyalty trait of your generals affected? Namely, how do you raise it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's related to a character's chivalry as well as being partly hereditary.

Godless Musings: A blog about why violent fairytale characters should not have any say in how our society is run.
My character has a few bars of chivalry, but he's adopted. Does this mean there's no way to increase loyalty? Or perhaps prevent it? A while back my character had 2 or 3 rings of loyalty, and then after succesfully sieging a town, it went down to 1, and I also noticed he had the "actively disloyal" trait on him.
They gain 'feels appreciated' +loyalty traits if you win battles with them. Loyalty is usually determined by the level the general starts with, and wont get increased alot during his life. Just dont pick generals with 'actively disloyal' traits and you'll be fine. 5 loyalty has always been enough for me to keep general from not turning into a rebel. Ive never faced bribery, exept when my nemeis france always kept bribing my diplomats that were trying to get to spain from italy![]()
Ive gained "freels appreciated by just sitting a general in a town and making sure something is always being built there.
Hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can, where its going to hurt them the most..... and preferably when theyre not looking!
Building a church structure can raise loyalty as there is a percentage chance to increase the Upright trait, ending a turn in a fortress, citadel, large or huge city can raise the Content General trait, a chivalrous faction leader (higher than 3) can raise the Content General trait while a dread faction leader can raise the Discontent General trait.
Being excommunicated also lowers loyalty slightly. A dreaded faction leader will cause disloyalty with chivalrous characters (not sure if the opposite is true as well).
Marriage to your family.
I'm pretty sure I've used this before in M2TW before now to bump up loyality.
"Feels Appreciated" triat, I've always got that after they have fought (successfully) in a battle or two. Even squashing rebels seems to do the trick.
I havent found this to be the case. My generals in "middle of the empire" totaly safe areas that never fight get regular loyalty increasing traits, most of them are on 9 or 10 loyalty. My king and most of my generals are quite high on chivalry but the generals in question almost never fight.
Hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can, where its going to hurt them the most..... and preferably when theyre not looking!
If your monarch is chivalrous, and your general is chivalrous, your general is likely to feel appreciated. I believe the same thing goes if both are dreadful.
oh. maybe its just that my leader/generals are just crap...![]()
Are there two types of General in this game ????
After all look at the pictures of them.
You get some in armour that I have assumed are better in battle or on the front line, and some in robes that I tend to circulate between cities etc.
Since adopting this approach the gaining of bad traits and therefore the loss of loyality seems to hapen far less.
Any takers on this.
