Yeaaaa...I need some help...

Well I recently got EUIII, and in my first try as Castille I got raped by Navarra, Aragon, Granada, Morocco, and Portugal after 2 years. . I haven't been able to find a good strategy guide, and I was wondering if I could get some help. If anyone could recommend some good factions or easy factions to play it would be great, and some pointers on what to do, it would be great.

First, what did you do actually?? They would not crazy enough to declare war against Castile without any reason.

Anyway, for Castile there are several "must" list of events you need to do before unpause:

1. Set out your economy, diplomacy and recruit the best advisors you have. You are damn rich that money is not a problem at all.

2. Build two more infantries and two more cavalries near Granada; you would need that.

3. Now, declare war against Granada before unpause - you get no penenalty now; march your two regiements into Granada.

4. Before unpause, also get both Royal Marriage with Portugal and Aragon, so they would not attack you for ten years; if you want more save, ask military access from Portugal.

5. If you don't ask Royal Marriage for those two nations, Portugal would get jealous and attack you when you are dealing Granada; Aragon usually would drag into the mess too.

6. Once Granada is finished, your first National Idea is available too - choose wisely, think whether you want to colonize New World or conquer North Africa, then choose different National Idea depends on your direction.

Edit: By the way, it seems that Aragon would love to fight French if they did not fight you - nice bonus to have Royal Marriage with them actually, since they would guard your backdoor carefully when you are aggressively conquering New World. Also, since Castile is damn rich, it is a few nations that can adopt "aggressive colonization". That means, instead colonize one province until it becomes a small city, you rather occupy as much as good colonies at beginning, so other powers cannot go for them after 1490s. I highly suggest grab anything that has Gold, Coffe, Suggar, Tobaco. You can grab some fur too. For Spain, go for Central America, Texas, Florida, Brazil, Cap (South Africa) and Spice Island.

Then ask military access and give them military access - they would suffer a -5 stability if they declare war against you.

Edit: Or, you can try Portugal yourself, although if you cannot master Castile then you pretty much cannot manage other factions... Ok, you may want to play Japan...

Ah, well, I restarted as Portugal and I'm doing well, have some colonies in the North America and Canada...Thanks for the help and advice.

Good, but Protugal colonize North America and Canada???:hmmm:

I suggest Brazil, Cap and Central America, just left North America to England and France and whatever Minor's battleground (hopefully Burgundy join - they usually did anyway).

You definately want to pick an easy target with high reward; sugar has doubt profit than fur!!!!!

North American hide can be very lucrative anyway. Although personally I prefer Caribbean sugar cane.

I colonized Cuba, which is pretty profitable so far, eventually I'll go to South America.
