Anyone have any experiences with pirate stations, or are you part of the few, the brave, the pirates?

Will defenitly start one as soon as I get the cash (my friends will probably think its cool too). I wouldn't do it if I lived in fascist America though... luckily I live in Aus.
I'd also like to point out that bside.com has a free movie download offer atm (no cc required just email). I decided to check it out and dled a little doco about American Pirate radio... wasn't too serious but was certainly interesting and worth every minute. You should check it out.
And seriously Juno you saw the reception of the Electronic music thread I made a while ago. TWC people are backward musicially... I certainly doubt anyone here is into pirate radio.
Fascist America? Dont know what provoked that little outburst of nonsense since the rules/laws on such things are generally the same thru out the western world.
Ah now TWC are backwards musically...just chock full of judgmental attitude eh.And seriously Juno you saw the reception of the Electronic music thread I made a while ago. TWC people are backward musicially... I certainly doubt anyone here is into pirate radio.
In the event of an emergancy (including hurricanes, earthquakes etc which could be minor) the President can assume control of the country personally (or something similar to that). There used to be protocol that he used to have to follow and get approvements from people but no more... these bills are getting passed recently. Anyway don't feel like debating that now.
I also say fascist America because in this context they come down on Pirate stations a lot harder then other countries (UK and Australia).
I say musically backward because I see comments like people refering to everything electronic as techno and similar. Pirate radio is better then normal radio because generally it plays a much wider range of stuff... and is more community based. I'm just saying twc doesn't seem the crowd that would be into pirate radio. BBC1 was founded with a roster composed 90% of pirate radio djs... it's also what started pop music being played on the radio in the uk.
Right because there is nothing to debate you simply took something completely out of context!
That doesnt make it fascist state sorry, there are rules and regulations for airwaves because if there wasnt it would be chaotic and as I said the rules are generally the same thru out the western world. "Harder" is a matter of opinion as regardless pirate stations exist in the US.I also say fascist America because in this context they come down on Pirate stations a lot harder then other countries (UK and Australia).
Well that comes down to a matter of taste and opinion no? Doesnt mean TWCers are "backwards" because they arent interested in something you are....I say musically backward because I see comments like people refering to everything electronic as techno and similar. 1. stop me and no it isn't out of context. I fail to see how, how harshly someone rules the country in general doesn't have anything to do with how harshly someone rules the airwaves.
2. Ofcourse its taste! Its media! Welcome to the twc... where everyone seems to fall for trolling whether deliberate or not. You think I don't know what an opinion is?
Heard that kiss was originally pirate btw

KISS was originally a pirate station, if I remember correctly.
The California version is god-awful, though.

Here here! An'....double Here here!
Bloody Coost Guard an' their effominate red jackets!!!
They allows Crocodile Dundee ta dynamite fish in New York, but they woon't allow tha Captain ta plunder Old York. Hypamacrites!!!
On a serious note: I've looked into starting up a pirate station several times, to fight against the N.W.O., but still, the start up costs are quite high.
@Danzig: Danzig, me pretty ducky!!! Good ta see's ye again! How's life in tha mainstream? Everyting hunky doory?
But ye's also need a safe house, an' a theme song.
As I said... you guys should check out that doco at the bside (you get a free movie for signing up) about american pirate radio.
My theme song would be the Justice remix of Daft Punk's "Human After All."
If you decide to give that track a listen, do yourself a favor and play it on a proper sound system, preferably on max volume. DO IT.
I drove out all the vermin in my house by playing it every morning on my system.
