One of the things I enjoy in the Vanilla version is the crossed sword placed where a herioc victory took place.
I have yet to get one and I have had a few victories like that ,is it just me or has anyone else noticed this?
Thanks

They should still happen in the game. I'm pretty sure its a hardcoded feature too so there shouldn't be any change in the probability of it occuring caused by any mod, let alone XGM.
So in short: It SHOULD happen for you eventually. Try an easier difficulty maybe?
I got one with my first battle with version 5.6.2, the Mighty Carthage vs. IGCS. There's now an Heroic Victory marker on the outskirts of Syracuse!
Though I've never been the loser of an Heroic Victory...I suppose you have to get whooped for that to happen...:hmmm:

HardSun on XBoxLive - Destiny and other stuff
Thanks for the help guys ,fingers crossed that I get another heroic victory![]()
Thanks again
The odds meter has to be in their favor, so at least 1:1, a bit more to them, and you have to win a "clear victory" to get a famous battle marker. Also, you can't do this from a city or I suppose a fort.
It still happens, difficulty M/H..
The very begining of campaing as Macedon..The Gallic horde awaits..
In 1 turn, all gallic horde defeated..and Two crossed swords appeared..

Nice work![]()
I did manage to find one of those cross swords , unfortunetly my army of mercs was on the losing side.
I thought you had to win a battle with a 1:3 (or perhaps no more than 2:3) strength ratio, kill off most of the enemy, and earn a Heroic Victory in order to get the Famous Victory sword marker.
yes, its quite possible
The Romans didn't like having company in Italy and tried to kick me out. In each battle, the odds were about 2:1 in the Romans favor and very, very hard fought. The results were either clear or heroic victories lots of dead Romans.
I find victory markers easiest to get against barbarian tribes--I have them all over Gaul and Germania in my campaign. With a focus on massed infantry charges, Roman pattern infantry or javelin-heavy Greek/Carthaginian armies manage to inflict massive casualties on the massed barbarians before they even engage.
I have been wondering about this myself. Yesterday I had a battle take place that involved my Faction Leader, Kleon the Butcher, and 850 men against 1400 of some Seleucid scum. They had no family members to lead them. Still I butchered their Captains, routed their armies, pillaged their camps... in short: I gave the Gods something to admire. And yet, the battle was forgotten an instant later. No marker, no songs sung.
A round later 200 guards of Pergamum attack 180 rebels... I resolve automatically... Marker!Go figure.
As far as i know there is difference between heroic victory and those famous victories for Rome and the greeks that give cool names. For example you can get Victor in asia... trait even with clear victory. Now the cool thing is that if you kick some eastern kingdom body parts - it gives you both victor in asia and in africa.
Deiphobos - i think that the quality of the troops counts when the ai calculates what victory to give.
