    Default A wee language error

Sorry for starting a new topic for this little issue, I couldn't find a suitable thread for it.
The KoJ general from Kingdom of Heaven (Orlando Bloom's character) has the last name de Ibelin, it should be d'Ibelin. I haven't studied old French, so sorry if it's only a modern contraction.
On another note, Broken Crescent is AMAZING. Finally somebody has made a mod covering one of the most interesting regions and times in history, and with a high degree of excellence. Thanks Mirage, AD, Ahiga, and everybody else involved.

I'm a french canadian and De Ibelin is correct, since it's a noble title.

« There is no virtue in compulsory government charity, and there is no virtue in advocating it.

A politician who portrays himself as 'caring' and 'sensitive' because he wants to expand the government's charitable programs is merely saying that he's willing to try to do good with other people's money. Well, who isn't?

And a voter who takes pride in supporting such programs is telling us that he'll do good with his own money - if a gun is held to his head.» - P. J. O'Rourke

Yea, right, like Jeanne de Arc, les Ducs de Anjou, Bohémond de Antioche etc...

It is an error, however small and inconsequencial...
Here is the french wiki about Balian d'Ibelin

Here is the french wiki about Balian d'Ibelin

However, Voici le Duc de Ibelin, Balian de Ibelin is correct.

*edit* I believe you can say both. Balian de Ibelin doesn't sound weird at all in French.

    However, no.
Voici le Duc de Anjou, Gaston de Anjou? Voici un habitant de Île de France? Sounds right to you?

It would rather be Voici un habitant de l'Île de France

That's correct. Meaning I agree that "de Ibelin" is not correct french, I have french in school and one of the (few, mind you) things I have actually picked up is when to use de and when to use d'. Also if it's any help the Osprey book about Hattin also says Balian d'Ibelin.

Yea, just like the french wiki about Balian d'Ibelin
I know it's off-topic, but Randarkmaan, in some situations, de can be found before a voyel, like "Je veux un kilo d'oranges" (I want 1kg of oranges) and "Je veux un kilo de orange" (I want 1kg of orange...paint or colour!)

There's probably a perfectly reasonable explantion for that exception anyway...

I'm surprised you chose such a minor error when the mod is full of language errors and broken english. At least the language problems are the only downside of this awesome mod.

Ha, that's a good point, but there are plenty of English speakers on the forums, and not so many French speakers.
