    Default new generals

i remember in rome total war you could have you'r captains promoted to generals if they did well in a battle.
such as winning an Heroic victory

is that passible in Medival aswell?

    how do you do it.
in rome you could easily have an army without general but in medival they betray you imidatly

It is definately possible, but you only get it when you have few generals compared to how many settlements you have.

It is, if u don't got much family members and a lot of settlements the rate of birth, marriege proposals and the man of the hour event will become bigger. I think that the battles have to be pretty big tho.

Bigger battles tend to cause more "man of the hour", but I occasionally get it when I defeat a few rebel peasants as well.

Too few generals compared to settlements + fighting a battle with at least one CAVALRY unit in the army (No general in it) and you have a high chance of getting man of the hour.

i already got Man of the Hours with a one unit Saracen Miltia, so you dont need any horses in your army.

its really just dependend on the relation "named military characters" : provinces owned by you. though the trigger seems to be random.

Some mods let you recruit Generals though (Stainless Steel for example)

Captains promoted into generals always have crap traits.

They might be a bit **** with cities but they can have a decent command rating and traits for battles.

If you're lacking generals they can be a godsend, and they'll expand your family tree.

I don't know, honestly there are some spectacular captains that it'd be criminal not to adopt.

How good they are is all dependent on luck, which in turn is dependent on your luck on getting the offer first.

My HRE campaign has a fantastic General that was promoted from Mailed Knight after being the only unit left on the battlefield and winning the first of his eight Heroic Victories by single-handedly destroying two full units of Spearmen and half a unit of General's Bodyguards. He didn't have a bad trait at all until I had to let him sit in Zagreb for a few years (I think it was only 3 years/6 turns), when he started drinking, gambling, womanising and skimming taxes. The only time I've reloaded in M2TW was last time I was playing that campaign and I wasn't watching what was happening during his assault on Marseilles - he somehow got himself isolated and cornered on the other side of the city fighting the French General and a unit of (Armoured?) Spearmen. To his credit he killed the Prince and all but one of his bodyguards and about 1/3 of the Spearmen before my reinforcements reached his corpse.

man what a hero. normal he starts drinking after killing a bizilion of people.
i had this with a Janis musketeer too, hi squad was so high in stats, fought in so many battles and retrained alle the time. he just kept fighting, alot of peopl just died facing him in melee and when he was done with melee he just kept shooting. Wonderfull.

    what a great game lol.
