    Default Bribing el Cid

So, WTF. I want him in my army. I don't want to kill him or his formidable soldiers. I've cheated my ass off and he won't budge.

Don't get me wrong I can whoop him. But some of my least favored victories involve smashing Valencia with superior forces or dogged determination.

What does it take to bribe him? Has anyone bribed him successfully?

Theres quite no point in getting him, you cant use your princesses, and it would require too much money to bribe him that he would be dead before you acquire that much money. You can use the add_money cheat though if you want to have like 1000000 florins in your treasury, and try to bribe him :p

I offered something like 4,000,000 once with the add_money cheat and he still refused to accept. I decided after that day that it was impossible to bribe him. Then I had the problem of getting rid of all that money. In the end I think I gave it all to the pope.

I've used the cheat to recruit him but he just kept saying no....

Perhaps it has something to do with "the Chivalrous."

This of course makes no sense that he's impossible to bribe, given his zero loyalty. I think there's a way to change it so he's not married in the descr_strat.txt file. You can try that.

Still though, I hesistate to use my Princesses on him because I don't want them being widows so early on in life. He's too old. I figure, if he won't join me, better to beat him.

but how awesome would it be to mod the file to make him single, then marry him with a princess whos been around europe gaining trade rights and alliances building up her charm, and then before the old man croaks, you get a son of el cid?!?

and your son of el cid somehow ends up becoming king? and had uber stats? that would be so cool.

That's what happened with William Wallace in my Britannia campaign. His sons are all royalty and they rock!
