Question about modding
Hello,
I have been playing XGM for a few months now. While I was playing I thought I could mod some things. I started with making Spartan Hoplites (XGM) playable for the Macedons (if they have conquered Sparta ofcourse). While I was doing this I got some error messages. I tried to fix this but it didn't help. I tryed to mod the Sacred Band (Greek), which I was also trying to make available for Macedon. The weird thing is I can make Sacred Band available for Macedon but not the Spartan Hoplite (XGM). Everything runs fine when I use Spartan Hoplites for Macedon, exept when I start a battle and want to fight it myself on the battlefield. The game crashes while loading the battle. First I got a error for the textures of the Spartan Hoplite which I fixed(Simply by copying some files and rename them). But after that I get a error message linked to a file called ART_REDSPARTAN_andsomeotherwords
. When I try to search for that file to copy it to his destination I figured out that this file doesn't exist.(even not in original RTW) Further I need to say I did not test the Spartan Hoplites (XGM) with the Greek Cities them self. Is this maybe the little thing what gets fixed with 5.6.1 Beta???? All this is about the: greek_spartan_hoplite_XGM.

Giving existing xgm units to other factions is quite easy if you only want to enable the units for them. Just add macedon in the proper line in export descr units, export descr building (using the proper spaces there). in descr model battle copy paste the texture and model sprite lines and change greek cities to macedon. and finaly copy paste the tga files from the UI folder- you have to do it twice for the unit and unit info.
I'm enabeling the sacred band for TSE and macedon for quite some time and no problems at all

Well, it is not as simple as that. I just did it that way but somehow Spartan Hoplites (XGM) won't work. I did used the same for Sacred Band and they do work. How do you explain that?

Hm i get some error that says cannot find atg_spartan tga. in dmb file the entries are different and obviously work for the greeks, maybe DBH can explain the problem. You can use the spartan phalangites without problem though.

True, only the spartan hoplites XGM won't work.

The Spartan hoplites have an officer - make sure you change the entry for that as well.
