I guess this question is directed at our Romanian members, but I would like to know from anybody who has seen this film in its entirety please post your comments.

I only came across it on "Youtube" the other day and have never seen it broadcast on British television. For a film made way back in 1966 it has very good battle scenes.

It's decent. Somewhat unhistorical, but I doubt you'll find a better film about Dacians. Expect to find propaganda touches in the dialogue, it was made in communist Romania after all. Worth seeing, in any case. I take it you're from Britain? It may be interesting for you as a foreigner.

Thanks Sir Paladin, I suppose you can tell it is fairly unhistorical by looking at the costumes and it would be extremely surprising if there was not some Communist propaganda in there somewhere. However what historical based film anywhere has not got some degree of modern interpretation, be it political or otherwise. Given the time it was made, I am very impressed with the quality of the battle scenes and accompanying music/sound effects, the amount of extras they must have used is astonishing. I doubt that anything like it could be produced today without computerized effects, such as those used for "Lord of the Rings".

Why has no one re-dubbed the film into English and re-marketed it I wonder? I for one would certainly buy the DVD if one were produced.
