I love all the movies directed by Mel Gibson (Braveheart, Man Without A Face, Passion of the Jew, and Apocalypto). What almost all of them have in common is that they are visually stunning and fantastically acted. I know that they are also often very gory but not in stupid way like Hostel or Captivity. Im wondering though why he does not make many movies? I believe it is very unfortunate that his latest amazing movie Apocalypto which I liked so much went highly underappreciated due to his ridiculous anti-Jewish remark.

Try Apocalypto on high definition. It is super amazing!

I wish Kingdom of Heaven was made by Mel Gibson.

I liked Mel Gibson (as an actor) in:
    - the Patriot
    - Braveheart (one of my favorites)
    - Mad Max
    - Maverick
    - Hamlet
    - Signs
    - Gallipoli

But I loathed his performance in such movies as:
    - What Women Want
    - Conspiracy

I hate that thing he does with his eyes. It's hard to explain, but it's really annoying.

As for movies that Mel Gibson had a hand in (like being a producer and such), Apocalypto was pretty sweet. Passion of the Christ didn't really interest me (not the way a movie should anyway).

I fixed your list so that it more reflects my own. Also, you forgot Payback. Awesome movie. For the most part, the film industry would not have suffered if Mel was never born. Mad Max would have still been great. (It's that kind of movie.)

Whats wrong with Passion of the Christ? Is it because of its gore? I personally think it is the moving part of the movie because it shows the suffering of Jesus.

No, it's not the gore - I'm a huge of fan of blood and violence. To me, there really wasn't much to that movie (the Passion of the Christ).

i love mel gibson's films except for What Women Want-that single film is why women should not make films on their rags.
    that aside,
i think it's unfair that due to a single rant on his behalf over what he perceived to be a collective group apparently screwing him over in hollywood, that the media gives him so much **** over it.
    it's disroportionate.
c'mon, he gave us braveheart for chrissakes
thtkinda talent should never go to waste
i want him to do another medieval film

i'll take the role of devil's advocate and ask the obvious
    :
what's so wrong with hating proponents of a religion who are themselves racist, calling non-adherents derogatory terms such as 'goyim'.
this is no different to muslims calling non-muslims 'kafir' ie 'unbeliever'.
funny how noone notices the inherent racism of the judaic faith, while eager to point out the racism of others?

I liked Braveheart. His too anti-English/British for my tastes though.
According to the Theory of War, which teaches that the best way to avoid the inconvenience of war is to pursue it away from your own country, it is more sensible for us to fight our notorious enemy in his own realm, with the joint power of our allies, than it is to wait for him at our own doors.

I tend to watch decent movies so that pretty much means I dont like Mel Gibson. I will occassionally watch his Vietnam movie(he magically evaded thousands of bullets) and Braveheart(I laugh at some stupid scenes). Honestly, its hard for me to watch a movie where a man randomly appears naked in the woods. Also, Passion of the Christ was extremely boring. It wasnt anti-Semetic but it was too bloody and was really wierd.

you do realize that the Vietnam war movie he was in (We Were Soldiers) was based off a real life event and he was playing the role of the real colonel Hal Moore.

Personally, I like the movies he directs, and the movies he's in. They're, for the most part, action-packed, highly charged, and just intense epic movies. I mean, they aren't the most historically accurate, but they're meant to be entertaining pieces that inspire people, not documentaries that educate people. They fulfil the purpose they were meant to fill. I don't like Mel Gibson as a person; I think he's a crude, anti-Semitic douche. But, I can appreciate the artistic quality of his films.

EDIT: I didn't like TPOTC and Signs much at all.
I really loved Braveheart, Maverick, and The Patriot, though. I make sure to watch them whenever they're on.
