Default characters that have terrible traits from birth

when my kings firstborn son was born, he was born lame, langarous/uncharismatic/dull and when i tried to send him campaigning, he got the trait "on his deathbed" and his movement went down to 10% normal, soon later, he got better, and now hes taking 5 turns to get from margiana to baktria...

have you ever gotten a terrible character, which was terrible from birth?

Mine are always the average guy who I would reject if they were doing a marriage proposal, u get the best one from the man of the hour event. Oh and your general might be doing 5 turns about traveling because you could be in a bad season.

No its because he has trait "lame from birth -40% movement and he has the trait "feeling poorly -10% movement. for a while he was "on his death bed -45% movement. so his movement was 5% of normal. In winter he couldn't move at all.

When one of my Hayasdan sons grew up, he had some very negative traits, he couldn't command or manage a city. I tried to get him killed off, but he proved a better general than I thought he would. So I decided that he would never see the inside of a city, instead roaming the countryside whacking off rebels or invading armies. It ended up being a nice role for him, and he was a brilliant ambusher.

hehe in my romani camp. there is a plenty of guys with Evil-mother-in-law or some bad traits . Bad traits tend to vanish after certain amount of time in field , combat etc . On the other hand guys from EB squad made a damn good work with this traits . It took me about 30 years to figure out why the hell my generals get this damn Interloper in Taras ( Roman allied state)

Rest him in a settlement for a long time - at least 2 turns. Sometimes, though, you can't do anything to help, so the only thing to do is leave him in the capital to rot, I mean participate in the social life

resting him in a fort works as well if you are on the move!

i have a question. in my pahlava campaign (which is finished now so it doesn't really matter) one of my generals fought and won DOZENS of battles, and soon gained 3 gold chevrons of xp, but only had ONE star of command for his whole life! how does that work?

In EB command stars are quite hard to get, I guess your general was not very bright to begin with
and may have developed some nasty vices on the way.

And perhaps he didn't join in the melee much, or he fought lots of battles where the odds were against the enemy...

Experience(unit chevrons) are gained by killing enemies, mostly while they're not routed. Command stars are gained by fighting with even battle balance or negative(odds against you) and at the same time by having your general personally kill enemies. I've found that having your general educated in a city with a martial deity(for example Mars for the Romani) also adds command traits.

On a more practical note, the command stars aren't terribly useful by themselves. AFAIK they're teh hots in autocalc (...but who uses that?), but in tactical they just give some fairly modest morale bonus in a limited radius around the commander's person.

Traits that add flat morale bonuses for the whole army are of *rather* more practical value, and IIRC succesful veteran commanders - nevermind now ones that don't hesitate to get stuck in themselves - are wont to pile up those...
