Just one point:

I recommend to turn off autosaves and simply not use them. I'm not exactly sure why, but apparently some mods have had issues with it.

One thing I'd like to say is that people should relax for BC 1.0. Take your time, don't dedicate too much campaigning. There will be bugs, and CTDs. We will get you a 1.1 patch by the end of this month hopefully and after that things should be smooth sailing campaign wise and more balanced.

3. does a clean mede installation mean no unpacked files?

Yeah, it should be no unpacked files. If you have unpacked files I recommend you try the animation fixer in the quick fixes thread.

Working fine for me too, the odd CTD here and there but nothing that hasn't had a fix (Georgian heroic victory). About to start a new campaign because I knew the infinite capture message was inevitable. Ghorids I think! Very cool looking!
