    Default Melee/Combat animations

I remember this being one of the big advertised things about medieval 2, the soldiers parrying and stabbing and doing finishing moves on each other....my problem is, I barely see any of it, at best ive seen maybe 1 feudal knight per battle stab someone whos down or an axemen trip someone, nothing like what I see in the videos....is this common or for some reason am I the only one who just sees the guys mob into each other and poke into the guy in front until he generically falls on his back? I was really hoping to see some cool stuff.

They get those videos using the game's Cinematic Editor. You can find out more about it here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=139646

I see it all the time, just look closely at individuals in a melee unit, unless you have an old gpu, maybe it disables some of the animations.

I've seen plenty of finishing animations, it would be great if they would actually hit each other correctly instead of stabbing the air.

They're at the highest, the problem is, is that the other soldiers will push the ones doing those animations away from each other.

I've seen a spearman stab the ground a zillion of times but I can't recall any other cool move.
The worst thing is that 'two men who make a combo together' (i.e. one being the killer, second - the killed) are not bound in any way during the animation. This makes the gore scenes MUCH less effective - the swords cut air behind the target instead of the target, spearmen stab the ground, etc.

Thats so true. I've seen the spear man animation so many times that i don't even recognize it amidst the chaos anymore. It looks like the men are only doing fake moves like wrestlers and battle rein-actors .

    Try SigniferOne's animations pack here:

Also, processor power seems to matter, possibly more than graphics card. I hardly ever saw finishing moves in M2TW until I upgraded my pc (from AMD XP1800 to Intel 6400).

Yeah they do the animations all the time, but they tend to miss and just hit the air/ground most of the time.

Yes its the same for me. You see them doing their moves sometimes but its nearly always one-sided, ie slashing through the air or stabbing a fellow soldier.
