As many of you are aware, a few of us have been slowly forming an online community to further enrich our experience of these fantastic late Roman mods of RTW/BI. Already, a Roman clan now exists tentatively entitled 'Domesticus Tutor' (but perhaps being renamed soon into 'Comitatus') and several online battles have taken place. As you all know, fighting against a real opponent versed in late Roman history and battle tactics is much more rewarding than against the AI.
Ideally, it would be great if a few more clans appeared which sponsored non-Roman factions and with whom our clan could issue or receive the odd challenge or even stage a tournament with. As there are so many factions in IBFD/IJ/RIO, I wondered if it were better to 'group' the factions/clans into the following areas so as to present a variety of troops and forces within each clan:
For example:
The Roman clan includes: Western and Eastern Romans, Constantinian Romans, and Romano-British.
The German clan would include: Franks, Saxons, Burgundians, Vandals and Alemanni
The Goth clan would include: Ostrogoths and Visigoths
The Nomad clan would include: Huns, Iazyges, Hepthalites, etc.
The Persian clan would include: Persians, Armenians
The Desert clan would include: well, desert peoples
The Celtic clan would include: just Picts
These are just rough ideas but might allow clans to field a wide variety of armies in multiple matches and keep it fresh. It would be great if a Goth or Persian clan arose soon and really forced the Roman clan to keep on its toes online. We could even progress to re-enacting online large historical battles in 3v3 multiplayer matches lag and processor speeds allowing!
