    Default Demand cardinals vote

Never noticed this before, but if you have a cardinal in the running for the Pope job you can click the shield icons of other factions at the bottom of the screen and either demand or bribe their votes.

For all I know everyone else may already know this, but if this thread helps another then its worth it. After over a year of playing the game I only found it today. Learn something new every day I guess.

I have known of the diplomacy scroll, but the ability to negotiate about votes is new to me. Thanks!

Yeah, it usually takes quite a lot to influence them though.

Wow, it seems your post was indeed informative, Vor. I know about this feature (but don't use it any often), but others have learnt something new today.
Seems you were right about the benefits of sharing it.

Yeah I knew about this, but I find it hard to influence them, so I just do all my diplomatic dealings there as opposed to wasting money on diplomats.
    I love you all!

Oh my... that 'super tip' is mentioned in the game's User's Manual o.O. Some discovery.

Discovery is that you need some sort of diplomatic connection with the factions whose cardinals form the college. This is because sometimes the diplomacy is available and sometimes it is not, there is no 'click on the shields to begin diplomacy' stuff and clicking on shields does nothing.

If you tell me what exactly has to be done to have the negotiations available, then I'll be impressed.

you have to have a cardinal up for election to demand the votes... if not, why are you asking for votes? its just silly. at least, i've never not been able to click on the shields when i have a cardinal up for pope

    impressed?

Not impressed. I had two cardinals in college, one being preferati. Still no diplomacy available.

    Depressed?

oh, and malcolm. Imagine you're at an age-old, bitter war with Hre and in an age-long fruitful alliance with English (happens to me all the time). You have Abysmal relations with the first and Perfect with the other. Their Cardinals are both preferati and are tied for being elected.
Wouldn't it be sound to ensure, via diplomacy, the English cardinal ends in Rome? It doesn't seem so silly to me.

As for the diplomacy, ok, so it is a discovery for you. Maybe I'll start making threads about "oh look, if you press M in campaign map while having an army selected, it will auto merge all nonfull units! wowowow!". I'll be your guru.

Never mind, let's just keep it friendly.

And one more thing. I noticed that your allies nearly always vote for the preferati you choose. I wouldn't spend money beforehand on their votes. Many times I've seen other Nation's votes in row with candidates that I won't support and many a time these votes ended in my Candidate's pool.
I suggest saving and checking if the election doesn't go the way you want anyway. If it doesn't, then load and start spending money on votes. Or make a sea invasion on the Papal States.

but how would that work? i have never found a button that says 'please give my allies the vote?'. it doesnt ever appear. and just so you know, i have killed the english completely, and am allied with germany. i am scotland - happens all the time, dont you know.

You just...vote for england? (assuming you don't have a cardinal up for election), and if england WINS (since he's your ally in the other example), you'll have a better relation with the pope than if HRE wins.
    e
If you're hung up on the England vs. HRE Example, exchange the two names for ANY other countries.

At any rate, if someone you're friends with gets elected pope, you have a better papal standing.

not even worth the possible diplomatic reprocussions. plus, having your cardinal become pope doesnt seem to do anyhing for you anyway...

Funny that, when I first read this I thought, of course you can! Then I realise that alot of people haven't realised it. Good pickup I suppose. Will be the most irregular rep + I give.
