Sure playing electronic games make us less active, but in my neighbourhood we only don't play sports due to the damned crappy infrastructure. If you play soccer your ball lands in someones yard. If you play baseball you break a window. Street hockey is a death sentence due to traffic volume. Maybe if we had a nice place to play sports that can be reached by a few minutes of walking, then I'd be more active and would certainly have gained much less weight in my childhood. I loved sports but couldn't play them anywhere without getting a car ride.

And of course, unhealthy food is far too abundant and is an important factor in obesity everywhere.

And? He's right.

When I was growing up, we'd eat fish and chips for tea, but I'd be out on the street playing footie with the kids on my road, with stunning regularity.

That doesn't happen so much anymore. Now people eat fatty food and don't bother burning it off.

aint that the truth. People blaming the food they eat for being fat is only part of the problem. Its like blaming tobacco companies for killing people, or drugs, without ever understanding that its personal choices that get people to smoke or do drugs or eat wrong in the first place.

We should be a little pissed off about what theyre putting into our food, but we should also be responsible to read the labels and stay away from the ingredients that make us fat, sick and unhealthy in the first place. The saturated fats, the high fructose corn syrups. You have to give up a lot of guilty pleasures. The kirspy kreme donuts, the hotdogs, the french fires. Most people are unwilling to do it.

I doubt any of that crap is anywhere near as effective as kids playing sports outside. the wii is good for like 80 year old grannies with arthritis, but kids should still go outside to run and play football and basketball and actually sweat.

Im in front of my computer most of the time but Im nowhere near obese because first I always spare some time for jogging around the neighborhood and second Im from an Asian family so my mother cooks which means I dont eat much junk food.

LMAO, black people are the cause to TONS of discrimination. Its a double edged sword, both video games and poor food are some of the causes of obesity. Just like black people and white people are 2 causes of Discrimination.
