Icon4 Units surviving a battle do not appear after it- totally different army composition !!!

I won a battle in wich i lost a lot of soldiers. Under the survivers were 3 units of chivalric knights, 3-5 horses each. All infantry units were lost. The cavallry units gained a respectable experience level of three golden bars.
After the battle and on the political map again i clicked on my army but there were no chivalric units anymore, instead i regain some infantry units i had completely lost during the fight.
Why does the AI arrange my army with a totally different composition ??? Why do i not reccieve the units a had at the end of the batlle ?
What is this about mixing all up the army units ???

    Its easy:
If a unit has just a small amount of man after a battle it will disapear. 3 to 5 man is critical for mountet units with just 30 men.
Also, I have seen just a few times, that some men of a mounted unit where healed after battle.
Your footman, on the other hand, will heal a lot of men after a fight (for me it seems like footmen often just injured while mounted men die). Or maybe there where captured by the enemy and where realeased after you won the battle.
You should not look at the units after the battle, only the after action reports counts. There you will see how large the units after battle. And when a unit hast below 10 men they will mostly disapear after the battle (but one time i got an unit with 3 man... :hmmm.

Nonsense. I've had units with one man survive at times. I think the program just burps and you get screwed sometimes.

I never had mounted units after a battle if they where less then three or four men. (only if I autosolved a battle :hmmm Just if it was my genral who has survied. And I had never a unit with just one man . Maybe I am wrong, but do you have a better sugestion then nonsens or its a bug?
The only other thing could be, that they where to injured to live on. What would be the greater nonsens. Injured units will heald after battle and the are counted in the after battle report. And some of the generals abilities influence how much will be healed (in RomeTW, I never seen such a ability in Medieval2).
And I am shure, there was something with disapearing men if the loses are to high.

I think that they had deserted, because the unit was too small to mantain or something like that...

Had a battle last night, one of the best ive played (most fun) and ended up with my 4 cav units with 1,1,1 and 2 men, after wounded were returned to health they came out at 1,3,10 and 5 so none of the units deserted.

Could there be a morale perspective to this, I mean maybe if you lose the small units disperse but if you win they stay? maybe not, just wondering why none of my units dispersed.

Reason my cav units survived with such low numbers is that if they get very very low with some chevrons I like to save them and retrain so I can get good experienced units instead of letting them all die and training fresh ones. I know everyone does that to some degree but I try and take it to the limit
Hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can, where its going to hurt them the most..... and preferably when theyre not looking!

You can try this, by selecting small unit force (i took clergymen from teutonic campaign) and attack a force that is waaay bigger than your force. Then open the console and type auto_win attacker/defender so you win the battle. Result is a Draw and a "Your forces melted" sign pops up that tells you how your men have disbanded due to too many casualties (Well, its large percent of the army ;p).
