Please, shoot me some recommendations. My sig has my last.fm in it, but for those that are lazy, I love rock of all kinds, but, I would like to get into some more electronic stuff too. I lack a solid collection of classic and 80s rock as well, and I just need some more material. There are only so many times I can listen to modest mouse!

List some of the best albums of the bands you recommends, please.

    My Bloody Valentine
    Pixies (more extensively)
    American Music Club
    Low
    Smiths
    Kitchens of Distinction
    Joy Division
    early 90's U2
Husker Du (you may prefer the solo stuff Bob Mould and Grant Hart came with afterwards judging by current tastes, though I think the Huskers are still a definitive 80s rock band.)
    Replacements
    Slowdive
    Chapterhouse
    Flying Saucer Attack

I think some of these are logical steps to take after seeing some stuff on your Last.fm.

You lack a solid collection of classic rock? Baby, you've come to the right man

    Cream
    Derek and the Dominos
    King Crimson
    Yes
    The Kinks
    Allman Brothers Band

These are just a few late 60s-early 70s bands you could be loving right now!

Or if you'd like to get less mainstream you could try prog rock. I love prog at the moment. Dream Theater and Savatage especially. 80s Savatage is generally 80s metal with prog influences in structure etc, but their 90s stuff is really...proggressive...y.

You do realise that progressive rock was mainstream back in the 70s? Bands like Yes and ELP sold millions of albums and did dozens of tours.

And Dark Side of The Moon is one of the most popular albums ever.

For some good classic rock you can also check Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan.
For 80's rock you can check The Smiths (their guitarist plays with Modest Mouse nowadays).

Dream Theater is Prog-metal, not prog-rock

Sonata Arctica are power metal, not black metal at all.

Well, yes, I guess, but their new album is pretty black. They were always described to me as black metal, sometimes as power. Whatever they are, I like them. Unia's not great, but the older albums were good.

P.S. They also have a really cool name font thingy, like the ones in your sig.
